Spa breaks in Edinburgh are a great way to indulge in some well-deserved pamper and relaxation time. Whether you are visiting this great city (voted as the best UK city in a recent poll by the Telegraph) or simply having a day out with friends there is a vast array of choice when it comes to both spas in Edinburgh city centre and spas near Edinburgh.
As you know at the TLE we do like to indulge every now and again so we are perfectly placed to advise you on the top spas nestled away in our fair city.
I am sure that The Balmoral Hotel needs no introduction and as a luxury 5 star hotel one would assume that there are exacting spa facilities available here too. One would assume correctly.
Tucked away under the foundations of this majestic establishment lies a place of tranquillity and peace – the perfect sanctuary in a bustling city.
Facilities include; small gym and work out area, a 15m Roman-esque style swimming pool, sauna, steam room and a relaxation room adorned with cosy blankets and a good selection of herbal teas.
Access to all facilities from changing rooms is convenient making it extremely easy and comfortable to catch up with friends in your robe pre or post treatments. Espa and Pure Lochside are the award winning beauty products of choice.
Stand out features: The calibre of the masseuses and the attention to detail in the treatment rooms.

One Spa at the Sheraton
One Spa is an experience not to be missed if visiting Edinburgh and seeking out some chill time.
Part of the Sheraton Hotel, the adjoining building that is home to One Spa does not provide a hidden sanctuary as is the case with many of the other city spas. Nope, One Spa embraces the city vibe and cleverly uses it to provide the stark contrast to its visitors that they are the ones enjoying the ultimate pamper experience whilst the world below continues to spins at rapid pace.
Facilities include: Gym with Technogym Key System, studios for classes, personal training, 19m swimming pool, an extensive thermal suite, rooftop hydro-pool and of course Spa treatments. Products vary depending on the treatment of choice.
Stand out features: I love the rooftop hydro pool, particularly at night with an illuminated Edinburgh cityscape as the back drop.

The Scotsman Hotel is one of traditional grandeur which firmly establishes it on Edinburgh’s luxury hotel map. However, the Scotsman Spa presents a slightly different personality trait to the rest of the hotel; showcasing a more urban and contemporary side, which I personally think works really well.
Facilities include; decent sized gym with state of the art equipment, fitness classes and personal training, sauna, steam room, spa pool, tropicarium and Scotland’s first stainless steel swimming pool (randomly I always feel like I should swim faster when I’m in this stainless steel pool!). Of course there are the Spa treatments which use the sumptuous Aveda facial and body products.
Stand out features: Stainless steel pool makes you feel like you’re in a Bond movie and the cowhide soft furnishings adds a contemporary touch of luxury.
