If you are looking for a destination where you can indulge, relax in the sun, spend your time shopping, drinking, dining and dancing in style, then Miami is definitely the place for you. No matter what your interests, this South Florida city will offer a way for you to do what you love and do it in absolute luxury. From lavish hotels on world-famous South Beach to shopping malls full of designer boutiques, visitors to Miami certainly won’t be disappointed.
Luxury Hotels in Miami
Although Miami is home to a number of accommodation choices that vary substantially to cater to all budgets, the places to see and be seen are most definitely on South beach. I’ve stayed at a number of the big-name hotels in Miami, and many of the biggest and most popular are the major chains with locations in cities around the world. The Ritz-Carlton, for example, is in Key Biscayne and feels like a resort that you never have to leave unless you want to. You will also find a stunningly decorated Four Seasons Hotel with some of the best service in Florida, the Mandarin Oriental with a somewhat inconvenient location close to the Port of Miami and the Setai, which is the highest-ranked hotel in all of Miami. There are also some less-known hotels that are beloved by international travellers who know the ins and outs of the city. The Delano Hotel is a boutique accommodation choice in the heart of South Beach that has just 208 rooms for guests. The Delano, along with the nearby Betsy Hotel, are perhaps the two most iconic upscale places to stay in Miami.
World-Class Shopping Destinations
Although the beach can be a wonderful place to spend the day, shopping is a wonderful way to cool off and enjoy the air conditioning. Of course, shopping in Miami is anything but cheap. This world-class destination is the place to pick up the hottest trends from the newest designers, and you will find stores here that I’ve only ever seen in places like New York, Paris and Milan. There is a reason that Miami is often considered to be a fashion capital in the United States, and that reason is found on Collins Avenue. Right in South Beach, this pedestrian-friendly district is full of shops on either side of the street that offer jewellery, shoes, clothing and more. Other shopping options worth considering include Aventura Mall, Bal Harbour Mall and my personal favourite, Lincoln Road in the heart if South Beach.
Unbeatable Dining in Miami
Every time I am in Miami, I make a point to try at least one of the many incredible restaurants that the city has to offer. Fusion cuisine is perhaps the most popular style of food you will find in the area, which is due to the diversity of the population and the sheer number of visitors from around the world. If you are craving a stunning setting and a menu that fuses Asian and Mediterranean cooking styles, then Azul at the Manderin Oriental is a wonderful choice. Some other favourites include the Jame Beard Award-winning Chef Allen’s, which serves up New World cuisine and has a formal dress code, the Baleen at Grove Isle Hotel & Spa, known specifically for its impressive seafood menu, and Ortanique on the Mile, which blends French and Latin flavours into something extraordinary.
Vibrant and Exciting Nightlife
When the sun sets in South Beach Miami, the adventures are just beginning. Miami is one place where I can’t resist going out at night, and everyone is dressed to impress. Many of the most exclusive clubs have strict dress codes, and if you want to stand out you might want to consider bottle or table service. A few of the top nightlife spots include Shore Club, Nikki Beach Miami and Mansion.
Whether you plan to relax on the world-famous Miami Beach or shop until you drop, the city is an incredible destination for splurges and luxury.
