We Love

The extra cost to upgrade is well worth it. The Port of Leith Suite comes complete with floor to ceiling windows providing views over the beautiful Water or Leith and its own freestanding Tartan bath!

Mal Edinburgh stands majestically on The Shore Leith, home to a wide array of trendy bars and Michelin star restaurants, making Malmaison the perfect base from which to enjoy Edinburgh’s finest. Although tucked away from the humdrum of the tourist traps the hotel is still only a short journey from the historic sites and attractions Edinburgh is better known for.

Approx. 15 minutes drive from Edinburgh Waverley station and 30 minutes from Edinburgh Airport.

Rooms and Suites

There are 100 rooms and suites to choose from all of which have the same super-slinky and luxurious design that is enjoyed throughout the entire hotel.

Harbour views, roll top baths and elegant comfort are choices within the different room category options with The Port of Leith Suite being the most prestigious.

Extra beds can be supplied (at an additional cost) for children in a Superior room only.

Guests can expect contemporary design and interiors with creative use of colour and texture – the result is an inviting (and we’d say quite exciting!) space in which to spend time. Nods to the locality and heritage of the building can also be found throughout the hotel which adds a soft and welcoming personalised touch.

Food and Drink

Chez Mal restaurant serves dishes inspired by local and seasonal produce complimented by bistro classics and offers a very stylish setting in which to enjoy the finest food and wine. And when there is ‘sunshine on Leith’ you can always enjoy al fresco living on the waterfront terrace – a rarity in a bustling capital city. Chez Mal bar is a trendy meeting place where hotel guests and locals alike come together to enjoy classic or quirky cocktails, fine wines or thirst quenching beers in a buzzing atmosphere by night and by day enjoy the laid back vibe of coffee, croissants and afternoon tea.

Private dining for up to 65 guests is also available.

Facilities and Activities

The pastime of choice at Mal Edinburgh is simply enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and stylish surrounding that the hotel has to offer. For those wanting to explore The Shore is a foodie haven with a great selection of bars and restaurants and of course The Royal Yacht Britannia just a walk away. And the historic sites and popular attractions of the beautiful city are easily accessible by car or public transport.
