Renowned as Scotland’s home of golf, the historic hotel is set on the most iconic golf course in the world – The Old Course – overlooking the 17th Road Hole and next to golf’s most famous bridge, Swilcan Bridge. The luxury five-star property boasts 144 luxurious rooms, including 35 suites, which extends to 175 rooms, in the summer of 2021, and includes a new Penthouse Suite with views of West Sands Beach or the Old Course. The hotel also owns the nearby championship Duke’s Course and on-site award winning Kohler Waters Spa, the only one outside the US.

Location

Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa is located within walking distance of the historic town of St Andrews and overlooks the Old Course and West Sands Beach. St Andrews also has excellent transport links and is only a 20-minute drive from Dundee airport, one hour drive from Edinburgh and one and a half hours from Glasgow. Leuchars train station is a short 10-minute journey and Leuchars airfield is also available for private jet arrivals.

Eden Rooms

The Eden rooms are spacious and luxuriously furnished. The use of tactile textures is a reminder of Scotland’s rich heritage in the textile industry. Gold and antique-style lamps add a touch of glamour, while traditional golfing images of St Andrews remind you that you are indeed in the home of golf.

Old Course Rooms

The Old Course rooms all have direct views of the Old Course. Guests who do manage to draw themselves away from this stunning view of the world’s most famous golf course will appreciate the interesting use of tactile textures – a reminder of Scotland’s rich heritage in the textile industry. Gold and antique-style lamps are complemented by traditional images of St Andrews and golf.

Eden Suites

Eden Suites incorporate luxury with bold, traditional decor. These spacious rooms feature fabric-lined walls, a wooden and red leather sleigh bed, a sofa (converts to a sofa bed) and coffee table. Full windows provide spectacular views overlooking the surrounding countryside.

Old Course Suites

Directly above the 17th green of the world’s most famous golf course, these suites feature private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows with direct panoramic views of the Old Course, the Royal & Ancient, the historic town of St Andrews and the Fife coastline. The Old Course suites’ warm décor feels very Scottish yet remains contemporary, with a stunning combination of tactile textiles including a Jacques Garcia-designed 100% wool throw and silk-lined walls.

Fairway Suites

Overlooking the Old Course, the Fairway Suites are located in the Millennium Wing and are contemporary in design. They feature a lounge/dining area, a mini pantry, guest WC and a large marble bathroom with two sinks, bath and separate shower unit. The lounge is split into a seating area with couch, chairs and a dining area with a circular table and desk. Both the living room and bedroom have standing balconies overlooking the golf course and sea.

Deluxe Suites

Designed by French designer Jacques Garcia (of Hôtel Costes, Paris and Hôtel Metropole, Monte Carlo fame) deluxe suites welcome guests with a red, double-arched entrance with marble floor. Throughout, the rich colour palette continues with a striped cream sofa, a red and black velvet chaise longue, and rich textiles. Enjoy the warmth and cosy comfort of an open fire, or take a glass of champagne onto your private balcony and enjoy the incredible view.

The Royal and Ancient Suite

Situated above the famous 17th fairway of the Old Course, the Royal & Ancient suite offers spectacular views across the links courses to the sea from its floor-to-ceiling windows and balcony. Tactile fabrics and eye-catching detail can be found throughout this suite, which features a separate sitting room.

The Penthouse

This room is currently under construction and will be ready by summer 2021.
This luxurious Penthouse Suite will have its own lift and staircase and the best view in the hotel.

Food and Drink

Guests can indulge in one of the hotel’s six restaurants and bars offering high-quality all-day dining, using the finest local Scottish produce, including fresh seafood from the East Neuk’s fishing villages and locally reared meats.

The Jigger Inn dates back to the 1850 when it was the stationmaster’s lodge, and the history and heritage live on. Today The Jigger Inn is home to golfing memorabilia, cracking open hearth fires, home cooked food and its own Jigger Ale. The Road Hole bar also has an extensive menu of more than 250 whiskies from Scottish distilleries and whisky tastings. All restaurants and bars are open to members of the public.

Facilities and Activities

Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa is home to the award-winning Kohler Waters Spa, ideal for those looking to relax after a long day of playing golf. The spa features 13 treatment rooms, including two twin rooms for couples, a 20m pool, along with the Kohler Waters Thermal Suite, which includes a hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room and plunge pool. Guests can relax and enjoy an extensive range of water-based treatments using the healing benefits of natural mineral rich water to leave them feeling rejuvenated, from therapeutic massages and facials from Phytomer, to body wraps and scrubs, as well as a range of unique wet treatments. Hotel guests also have access to the fitness centre and a range of classes, including PT sessions available on request.

The Duke’s Course golf course boasts panoramic views of St Andrews and the coastline. Available to play all year round, it is an 18-hole course, which is set up as two loops of nine holes. Five separate tee positions on each hole offers both flexibility in course length and appeals to golfers at all golf levels.

There is also the option of the hotel’s indoor Swing Studio, a golf simulator with over 60 courses to play from all over the world.

Prices

Rooms rates start at £440 per night in high season (April – October). Day spa packages are available from £99 (Monday – Thursday) and £129 (Friday – Sunday), which includes use of all spa facilities and one course light lunch and a 50-minute treatment, including body brush and custom back massage.
