This is probably one of our most anticipated Mediterranean hotel openings of the year – the unveiling of the complete Can Bordoy Grand House and Garden, in the old town of Palma, on the Balearic island of Mallorca.
I was at the property in May to discover a few of the secrets of this tucked-away old town mansion with its alluring private garden (you can read my sneak peek piece on Hotel Can Bordoy Grand House and Garden here).
In the last 6 months the property, parts of which date back to as early as Medieval times, has been completely re-imagined as a 24-suite hotel with organic restaurant inspired by the garden, called ‘Botanic’; bar; and spa.
The suites, many of which are generous in proportion, are decorated with a timeless elegance combining glamorous, extravagant touches, with vintage-style bespoke furniture and fixtures.
There are 5 types, from the Traveler Suite (30m2);
Junior Suite (35m2); Deluxe Suite (45m2); Premium Suite (55m2);
and the Grand Suite (80 m2).
The secret garden has been opened-up, and features a stylish pool, hot tubs and terrace.
The property has chosen to be part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts network, who describe the hotel as a ‘A one-of-a-kind escape in Palma de Mallorca’ and a ‘all-suite oasis’ – I’m tempted to agree.
The hotel still has some availability for its New Year’s Eve Dinner; with a Great Gatsby themed party (195 euro per person for B&B, dinner & party).
