Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai opens in one of the city’s most striking new landmarks

Mandarin Oriental has opened its newest address in the UAE with the debut of Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai, set within the sculptural Wasl Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road. Rising 303 metres, the building’s twisting silhouette and record-breaking ceramic façade immediately position it as a major new architectural moment for the city. The Group’s second Dubai property brings together a mix of luxury hospitality, private living and destination dining in the heart of Downtown.

The hotel is home to 259 guestrooms and suites, 224 private residences and ten dining venues, along with a rooftop helipad designed for discreet VIP arrivals. Developed with Wasl Hospitality, the project reflects Mandarin Oriental’s blend of Asian heritage and contemporary style, with interiors by London-based G.A Group. Soft palettes, custom furnishings and sweeping views of the Arabian Gulf or the skyline feature throughout, while an art collection inspired by desert tones runs across public spaces and guestrooms. High above sits The Residences at Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai, marking the brand’s first residential development in the city ahead of its 2026 launch.

Dining forms a central part of the experience. Yù & Mì, a modern Chinese concept, draws on the cultural spirit of 1960s Hong Kong, pairing an atmospheric bar with a hidden dining room focused on bold Cantonese and Sichuan dishes. Chitarra celebrates Italy’s culinary heritage with handmade pasta and regional signatures, while Noia by the Pool brings a Mediterranean mood to the 11th floor terrace with Greek island influences and panoramic skyline views. Further openings will include Billionaire and Lion in the Sun by Majestas Group, Osaka, the acclaimed Nikkei concept, and Pavyllon Dubai by Yannick Alléno. A rooftop Greek restaurant and a street-level venue complete with a Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop will follow.

Wellness spans two floors and is shaped around nourishment, in-room wellness, beauty and intelligent movement. Facilities include nine treatment rooms, couples’ suites, a VIP suite with hammam, vitality pools, tepidarium loungers, saunas, steam rooms and experience showers. A dedicated fitness centre with Mandarin Oriental Technogym equipment, a landscaped outdoor terrace with a 25 metre lap pool, leisure pool and kids’ pool, cabanas, a tea lounge and a movement studio offer guests a fully rounded wellbeing journey in the centre of the city.
