The Shepherd Mayfair Opens its Doors in London’s Historic Shepherd Market

Mayfair’s oldest house, known as the cottage and dating back to 1618, was once home to a shepherd and his flock. Today, in its place, stands the exceptional The Shepherd Mayfair, designed to incorporate elements of Mayfair’s iconic mansions into a contemporary interpretation of the neighbourhood’s heritage and charm.

The new 82-room boutique hotel is shaped by the history and character of one of London’s most distinctive neighbourhoods and comprises thoughtfully designed guestrooms and suites which complement the British art, destination dining, and tailored wellness experiences on offer at this prestigious address.

The Shepherd Mayfair boasts 70 individually designed rooms and 12 spacious suites with options between Standard and Superior Rooms to Shepherd and Mayfair Suites, many of which feature window seats overlooking the hotel’s historic surroundings. The hotel offers on-site, all-day dining at Fayre, where British favourites are served alongside European classics under an impressive, 3-metre brushed brass chandelier. The Shepherd Mayfair also houses The Lounge, a café and bar with an outdoor terrace and a street-facing hatch for on-the-go gastronomy. Serving early morning coffees to evening drinks, the establishment welcomes hotel guests and local residents throughout the day to enjoy tempting dishes and tipples in addition to a theatrical and ever-changing ‘Puddings by the Glass’ dessert menu. Set to open its doors in November 2026, late-night cocktail bar Teddy’s will serve lesser-known 1930s cocktails with five signature served drinks drawing inspiration from Victorian writer and Mayfair resident Edward Bulwer-Lytton.
