As part of the latest phase of the renovation of “London’s original luxury hotel”, The Savoy will be home to a stunning collection on Art Deco-inspired guestrooms to be unveiled in spring 2027. Paying tribute to the hotel’s Art Deco legacy, The Savoy continues to evolve in this recently unveiled chapter, which takes a contemporary approach to honouring the property’s pioneering design. The refurbishment was undertaken by award-winning hospitality design studio GA.
The Savoy’s influential role in popularising the Art Deco design movement in the city and beyond dates back to the 1920s. To reflect this, GA has incorporated brass detailing, polished and lacquered surfaces, and scalloped panelling into the hotel’s lavish interior design and added modern flair to this monumental refurbishment. The Savoy’s reimagined colour palette draws inspiration from the green illumination of the lettering on the hotel’s porte cochere that greets guests on arrival, while the rooms feature a bespoke halo pendant inspired by the perfect ‘O’ of the signage. GA have also crafted exclusive, tailor-made furniture to put the hotel’s unique character on full display, including rugs and carpets with oversized geometric designs, custom headboards, and light fixtures including a Gondolier-shaped lamp, a playful nod to a flooded event in the hotel’s past. The recent unveiling of the new Art Deco rooms comes after the 2025 refurbishment of The Savoy’s Edwardian-style rooms, and the opening of several hotel amenities including the all-day dining restaurant and The Florist at the Savoy.
The Savoy is an iconic name in London’s bustling city centre known to have hosted an array of stars over the years, including Elizabeth Taylor, Fred Astaire, and Charlie Chaplin. In addition to the star-studded guest list, the hotel is known for its gastronomic offerings including the Art Deco-style The Savoy Cocktail Book, published in 1930.
