The winners of the 12th annual World Ski Awards, the only international event honouring excellence in ski tourism, have been revealed.
Topping the list, Val Thorens in France was named “World’s Best Ski Resort,” thanks to its outstanding lift infrastructure, exceptional resort facilities, and premium slopeside accommodations.
Switzerland, renowned for its exceptional hospitality, was no exception, as W Verbier was named the “World’s Best Ski Hotel” and Chalet Zermatt Peak the “World’s Best Ski Chalet.”
Japan’s MUWA NISEKO won “World’s Best New Ski Hotel,” defeating Aspen and St. Moritz, which were fierce competitors in the newcomer category. Preferred for its opulent combination of privacy and close proximity to the slopes, France’s Chalet Harmony in Méribel was crowned “World’s Best New Ski Chalet.”
The results of this year’s competition, which was voted on by both ski experts and enthusiasts, came after a year-long quest for the finest in ski travel, tourism, and hospitality. In each category, the nominees who received the most votes were declared the winners.
“We are thrilled to unveil the best ski organisations of 2024 – the resorts, chalets, hotels, agents and travel providers that are lifting the global ski sector to new heights”, says Sion Rapson, Managing Director of the World Ski Awards. “This year’s winners reflect the dynamic nature of our industry, showcasing an ideal blend of luxury, innovation and sustainability. This year we received a record number of votes from ski tourism consumers all around the world – most encouraging on the eve of the upcoming season.”
For its unparalleled off-piste terrain, Switzerland’s LAAX was named “World’s Best Freestyle Resort” in other categories, and Ski Dubai was hailed as “World’s Best Indoor Ski Resort.”
Leo Trippi was chosen “World’s Best Ski Travel Agent,” Sunweb was selected “World’s Best Ski Tour Operator,” and Schneebeben was named “World’s Best Ski Transfer Operator. Additional winners were also recognised.
With its upscale amenities and ski-to-door access to Les Trois Vallées, Val Thorens’ Hôtel Le Pashmina won the distinction of “World’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel” for boutique luxury.
The eco-friendly rocksresort at LAAX was named the “World’s Best Green Ski Hotel” for its flawless integration of architecture and scenery. Northern Escape Heli-Skiing in Canada was recognised as the “World’s Best Heli-Ski Operator,” while Compagnie des Alpes was honoured as the “World’s Best Ski Resort Group” due to its European reach. For its state-of-the-art amenities and services, Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel was named the “World’s Best Ski Resort Company” at the end of the competition.
Setting new benchmarks for ski enthusiasts around the world, this year’s awards showcase the finest in ski luxury.
