Casa Palacio Don Ramón Seville wins Best Boutique Hotel in the World at World Travel Awards

This elegant Andalusian property triumphed over six other luxury hotels from destinations such as Japan, the United States, Mexico, and Greece to bring to Spain the prestigious “Oscar” of tourism, while Kaizen Hoteles, the group it belongs to, was also recognised as the best independent hotel chain in the world among five finalist hotel groups.

The best boutique hotel in the world is Spanish and is located in Seville. It is the 5-star Gran Lujo, Casa Palacio Don Ramón, which has just won the prestigious World Travel Award, considered the “Oscar” of tourism, ranking it as the number one boutique hotel worldwide. The award was presented at a gala held in Madeira, attended by the president of Kaizen Hoteles, Marisa de Azcárate, along with the director of Casa Palacio Don Ramón, Saray Castaño, and the rest of the operational team from Kaizen Hoteles.

The Seville hotel is the first in Spain to win this award in the boutique hotel category, having surpassed exclusive hotels from Japan such as KAI Akiu and Trunk Hotel (located in Yoyogi Park), the American Hotel MOLLIE in Aspen, Colorado, the Mexican Todos Santos Boutique Hotel and Hotel El Correlimos, and the Greek WeSense Santorini.

The World Travel Awards are considered the Oscars of the travel industry. Established in 1993, these awards celebrate and honor excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. Today, they are recognized globally as the highest seal of excellence in the industry

Marisa de Azcárate, president of Kaizen Hoteles, emphasized the significance of this first-ever recognition for Spain in the luxury tourism sector, stating that “it is a way to put Seville, and of course Spain, on the global map as a reference destination for this type of exclusive tourism.” She added, “Luxury tourism brings many more benefits than mass tourism, both economically and by improving opportunities in other sectors, such as transportation, culture, and leisure. Furthermore, high-quality, exclusive services contribute to sustainable long-term economic growth.”

Since opening its doors in 2023, Casa Palacio Don Ramón, the first hotel in Seville under the Kaizen Hoteles brand, has become a landmark for tourists seeking an exclusive hotel experience. Located in the heart of the city, the hotel occupies an 18th-century palace on Calle Trajano, a building rich in historical and artistic heritage. Its restoration and renovation incorporate cutting-edge and sustainable technology, including thermal and acoustic insulation, anti-humidity systems, silent air conditioning, aerothermy, geothermal energy, closed water circuits, aroma diffusion, multilayer climalit glass windows, radiant cobblestone flooring, and more.

Divided into three floors and designed to resemble a traditional Andalusian mansion, the hotel features two inner courtyards, meeting rooms, and a rooftop terrace with a pool and spectacular views. Both the 26 rooms and the public areas of Casa Palacio Don Ramón are unique, carefully designed down to the smallest detail.

Each room in the hotel is a true reflection and tribute to the essence and history of Seville, in a project designed by interior designer Alejandra Pombo. The design represents a journey through the various cultures that have shaped the city over the centuries, from Al-Andalus to the Seville of the New World. This essence is embodied through exquisite details and materials crafted by local artisans, such as hand-painted wallpapers, furniture upholstery, tiles, wrought-iron railings, and charming balconies in some of the rooms.

The rooms are categorized into three themes: Arab, Mozarabic, and New World, each reflecting a distinct decorative style. There are also two suites—Sevilla and Don Ramón, both located on the top floor. Each room is a unique space—no two rooms are alike in the entire hotel—where these three styles are seamlessly combined with contemporary materials and inspirations.

In line with this concept, the hotel doubles as a museum, featuring a collection of exclusive paintings and artworks from Marisa C. de Azcárate, owner of Kaizen Hoteles, as well as pieces that form part of the hotel’s own heritage.

To complete the experience, Casa Palacio Don Ramón also boasts its own restaurant, El Limón. This elegant, intimate space offers a gastronomic experience led by Moroccan chef Alí Elkardoudi, with a balanced menu showcasing the best of Andalusian cuisine, offering diners a sensory journey through flavours.
