SLS LUX Brickell Hotel Review

In the centre of Brickell, an area pulsating with Miami urban sophistication, is SLS LUX Brickell, offering guests an on-trend, vibrant retreat. This all-suite hotel embodies the contemporary aesthetic and dynamic spirit of Miami. Facilities include Altitude, a Philippe Starck-designed pool terrace oasis on the 9th floor with two pools, an open-air restaurant and a bar. Wellness offerings include SLS LUX Brickell’s gym, tennis court, and mini golf.

I arrived at the hotel in the evening, on a flight from the Caribbean. As soon as you arrive you are immersed in the larger than lifestyle and sparkle of the property. The architectural entrance and the striking starburst lighting installation in the lobby set the tone for a visual feast design.

The hotel is designed with flair, blending luxury with an innovative, art vibe. Regular collaborations with artists and fashion designers during unique events add an intriguing layer to the guest experience, inviting an ever-evolving narrative that celebrates Miami’s creativity.

A Suite Experience

My suite was superbly presented with flawless linens and an inviting layout including a wrap-around balcony. A thoughtfully curated welcome amenity awaited: succulent strawberries dipped in chocolate, a sweet touch that hinted at the hotel’s attention to detail.

The bathroom was equally impressive, stocked with premium amenities from MALIN+GOETZ for Ciel Spa bath amenities, whose luxurious formulations elevate the everyday ritual of bathing into a sensory experience. The spacious layout, contemporary design and signature SLS Lux bathrobes and slippers made it a stylish sanctuary.

Each of the 76 suites, by world-renowned Yabu Pushelberg, are smartly designed and enlivened with curved chartreuse coloured seating, private balconies, contemporary furnishings, washer/dryers and kitchenettes. I really found the design and equipment to be perfect for a stopover and would suite couples as well as families. The front desk was also on hand during our stay hto elp us with anything we needed from room service to washing powder for the clothes washer.

Room categories include Queen and King rooms, spacious studios, as well as one- and two-bedroom suites. All come with a full minibar (probably one of the most comprehensive and luxurious I have seen) 55″ widescreen, high-definition LCD TV with On Demand channels, additional seating for relaxation, and luxurious MALIN+GOETZ for Ciel Spa bath amenities. The kitchenette includes a microwave, small fridge, mini dishwasher, and Lavazza coffee machine.

The Altitude Pool Deck, Urban Oasis

On the 9th floor, Altitude serves as the hotel’s rooftop pool terrace and restaurant, offering an oasis above the streets of Brickell. Here, the Miami skyline creates a contemporary backdrop for our leisurely day in a private cabana. The menu is a blend of Mediterranean bites and signature cocktails, ideal for sipping while basking in the sun.

During my time at the pool, I had the pleasure of being served by Lazaro, the bartender whose skilful mixology elevated the experience. His recommendations for tequila cocktails were spot on, perfectly complementing the vibrant atmosphere around the pool.

Restaurants and In-Room Dining

We spent the entire day at this urban resort. We began our day with a splendid breakfast, thoughtfully crafted to order by Monserrat. The Avocado Toast was a standout, elegantly presented on multigrain bread, topped with microgreens and a drizzle of olive oil.

Somehow the morning went into lunch and it was time to take a look again at the Altitude Pool & Lounge menu. I found the Guacamole Platter irresistible, complemented by crispy chips and tangy pico de gallo. For a heartier option, the Chicken Fajitas Quesadilla delivered rich, savoury satisfaction, perfect for sharing, and the Crispy Calamari was delicious.

In the evenings you can explore the dining options of Brickell, but we took advantage of the hotel’s collaboration with Kaori, a modern Asian restaurant recognised in the Michelin Guide. The restaurant offers guests of SLS Lux Brickell exclusive in-room dining, with signature starters such as Miso Cucumber Salad, Wagyu & Foie Gras Gyozas and sophisticated main dishes including Prime Steak with Robata Grilled Oyster Mushrooms, and Udon Noodles with Mushroom Dashi, Bok Choy and Five Spice Cashews. The preparation was thoughtful, including all the garnishes, making it easy for us to plate the food and make it look restaurant quality, but enjoyed in the suite.

Wellness

SLS LUX Brickell doesn’t neglect wellness; the state-of-the-art fitness centre is open 24/7, featuring cardio machines and free weights. We were also told that personal training sessions can be booked, ensuring that even while on holiday, fitness goals remain within reach.

The mini-golf course outside the fitness centre adds a touch of playful leisure, while the tennis court can also be booked for a game.

Destination Brickell

Brickell itself is a vibrant, contemporary neighbourhood. Independent boutiques, trendy eateries, and art installations line the streets, making it a cool area for exploration. Close to SLX Lux is Brickell City Centre, an upscale lifestyle centre, with dining, entertainment and luxury retail. Brickell is one of my favourite neighbourhoods in Miami – modern, urban, and with just the right amount of bling and attitude to make you feel like you’re at the heart of the capital of the Americas. Front desk offered us use of the hotel’s Lincoln house car, available for transport within the Brickell area. It is bookable with concierge.

This cosmopolitan destination has emerged as one of the most vibrant areas of modern Miami, embodying the city’s blend of innovation and creativity.

In a city known for its arts, SLS LUX Brickell enhances the experience with events that resonate with the local arts scene, from exclusive fashion showcases to art exhibitions.

SLS LUX Brickell is more than an all-suite hotel; it is a dynamic destination that embodied the compelling essence of Miami. With its focus on art, luxury, and an engaging atmosphere, it beckoned us to immerse ourselves in the vibrant city.

SLS has properties in North America, including the USA and Mexico, South America, the Caribbean, Middles East and ..opening soon in Barcelona. While I was in Miami I headed down to the emblematic South Beach to take a sneak peek at SLS South Beach on Collins Avenue, featuring the celebrated restaurant ‘Cartagena’ by Juan Manuel Barrientos. This should also definitely be on your wish list for your next visit to Miami.
