Located on an untouched peninsula of Miyakojima, a remote tropical island south of mainland Japan, this new resort introduces Rosewood’s signature ultra-luxury experience to an idyllic destination renowned for its spirituality and natural beauty.

This highly anticipated launch marks Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ first Japanese property, strengthening its presence in Asia. With a commitment to blending seamlessly into its surroundings, Rosewood Miyakojima immerses guests in the tranquil charm of the Ryukyu Islands, offering a rare opportunity to experience authentic local culture alongside world-class hospitality.

Designed by Studio Piet Boon, the architecture and interiors draw inspiration from the serene landscapes of Miyakojima. Emphasising sustainability, natural materials, and minimalist elegance, the resort reflects the island’s pristine beaches and lush vegetation. The use of local Ryukyu limestone enhances the connection between the resort and its surroundings, while expansive spaces create a sense of harmony and relaxation.

The resort features 55 villas and houses, each with panoramic views of Miyakojima’s famous turquoise waters. Divided into five distinct zones across the peninsula, these exclusive accommodations include:

  • Daya Villas – Cliffside retreats with breathtaking ocean views.
  • Mui Villas – Tucked into the tranquil mountains.
  • Miji Villas – Positioned at the tip of the peninsula, overlooking the sea.
  • Uru Villas – Set directly on the sandy beach.
  • Isu Villas – Located on the rocky coastline.
  • Exclusive Houses – The three largest residences, UPRA, KUURA, and KAMII, feature high ceilings, open terraces with barbecue grills, and private butler service.

The dining experience at Rosewood Miyakojima is deeply rooted in the island’s heritage, offering locally inspired dishes alongside international cuisine:

  • NAGI – A fusion of Italian cuisine and Japanese techniques.
  • MAAS – An oceanfront restaurant celebrating freshly caught seafood.
