A 300-year-old family country estate, at the geographical heart of Ibiza, is the laid-back luxury destination for a Balearic experience that beats to the slower, authentic rhythm of nature and the local community. Can Lluc Boutique Hotel & Luxury Villas offers 25 rooms, suites, or villas, scattered across rolling countryside, where the only sounds are birdsong and the hum of cicadas. Relax in the Mediterranean sun by the infinite pool, or in the shade of a sea view cabana, before dining under the stars in the homespun restaurant. The clubs of San Antoni and the restaurants of Ibiza Town are 15 minutes away, as are the island’s beaches and chic chiringuitos
Where Ibiza Slows Down
When our taxi turned off the main road onto a gravel track winding through pines, carob, and fig trees, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but arriving at the rustic entrance of Can Lluc, and greeted by Blanca (one of owners Lucas and Tina’s daughters), one quickly feels embraced by the homespun warmth of this soul-nurturing countryside retreat. I felt embraced by the laid-back vibe that defines this destination, where the bohemian spirit of Ibiza blends effortlessly with the finer things in life.
Blanca, who returned from business studies in Madrid two years ago, embodies the laid-back approach here. Her warmth feels genuine as she and her father, Lucas (read interview here), guide us through the property.

Always a family business carrying the name of the patriarch, Can Lluc is still run by Lucas Prats and his wife Tina Soriano with help from their adult children. This Mediterranean finca truly immerses you in the timeless beauty of Ibiza. The atmosphere is one of peace, with the air scented with aromatic thyme, rosemary, and figs of the gardens. The views stretch towards mountains and over to the bay of San Antoni, where the resorts and clubs appear as tiny white dots near the horizon.
The estate has grown thoughtfully over the decades. Working with Ibizan architect José Torres, the family has turned their ancestral home into what is known as ‘agrotourism’, where rural hospitality creates employment for locals while offering visitors an escape from typical tourist experiences. The approach feels sustainable and respectful of the island’s culture and natural heritage.
Walking past the terrace restaurant and infinity pool to reach the garden suites, you get a sense of how carefully everything has been developed. The buildings harmonise with the landscape, with golden stone walls, wooden beams, and pergola terraces that seem to have always belonged here. Even the contemporary suites and villas fit comfortably in the surroundings, echoing the simple Mediterranean architecture of the island.
Suites & Villas
The accommodation is split between the original farmhouse, where one finds the charming ‘rural rooms’ and newer garden suites and villas.

I stayed in one of the Garden Suites, with over 70 square metres, with an expansive terrace leading out to Mediterranean gardens and views toward Puig den Jaume. The space genuinely felt like a private home rather than a hotel room.
What I particularly liked was the flexibility of the setup. The terrace connected to the adjacent Garden Suite through a simple door, which worked well since I was travelling with Ross of The Luxury Editor, who was staying in the suite next door. It was perfect for pre-dinner drinks.

The main bedroom featured a king-size bed that could be configured as twins if needed, plus a sofa bed. But the real pleasure was the bathroom opening onto a walled patio with an outdoor shower. There’s something genuinely relaxing about showering under open sky, whether it’s morning sun or evening stars. Simple pleasures are the real luxury of travel.
For families or those wanting more space, the villas offer considerable independence. The two-bedroom option gives you 180 square metres, an elevated terrace with views, and a private pool. Two large bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, and even a jacuzzi in the bathroom. It’s almost like a villa rental but with hotel services attached.

Dining Under Ibizan Skies
Chef Marga feels part of the family, bringing traditional Ibizan recipes and local produce to the menu. We started lunch with a ‘Crostas’ salad. Toasted bread with dried fish, tomato, onion, olive oil and seasoning. It sounds simple, but the combination works beautifully. The bread comes from a recipe celebrated in the Pitiusas islands, the dried fish adds subtle depth rather than overwhelming flavour, and the olive oil comes from the Can Lluc estate.

Marga´s signature seafood and chicken rice followed. Abundant prawns and tender chicken in rich rice, paired with local organic white wine from Can Rich winery. We had only been here for a few hours, and already time seemed to slow down. Restaurant manager Amaurys guided us through the menu, making suggestions for meals during our stay, while Ricardo and Sarin kept everything relaxed and unhurried.
The restaurant’s culinary concept focuses on authentic flavours as well as offering international favourites, like a burrata salad. The intimate, peaceful atmosphere lets countryside sounds and soft background music accompany your meal. The attention feels warm and personalised.
The restaurant is open of the complimentary breakfast, as well as offering a la carte lunch and dinner. What’s more, the fine dining restaurants and beach clubs of the island really are just 15 – 30 minutes’ drive away, perfect if you want the full Ibiza experience.

Wellbeing
The property offers wellness treatment rooms in a dedicated building within the gardens, and a sauna for guests who pre-book. It’s not an elaborate spa complex, but the simplicity is in line with can Lluc pared back luxury approach. There’s a well-equipped gym too.

Beyond the Estate
The property sits at the geographical centre of Ibiza, a few minutes from the village of Sant Rafel, about equidistant from Ibiza Town in the south and San Antoni in the west. You can walk the estate’s surrounding vineyards and pine forests, where paths lead to viewpoints that reward the effort, especially at sunset. The views stretch to Talaia de Sant Josep (the island’s highest point) and across Sant Antoni bay to Conillera island.
We learnt that there’s a ranch called Yeguada Los Olivos nearby too, home to over a hundred Spanish horses, and es Broll de Buscatell, a natural spring feeding irrigation canals dating from the Arab period.
Can Lluc Boutique Hotel & Luxury Villas has also been showered with awards and accolades over the years for its commitment to hospitality, quality, luxury, and sustainability. A fill list is on the website, assuring you of a memorable stay.
Coast and Country Stay
The rural charm and escapism of Can Lluc can easily be combined with livelier coastal experiences. The family also operates the 4-star S’Argamassa Palace Suite Hotel in Santa Eulalia del Río. This seaside hotel sits surrounded by pine trees and close to the beaches of Cala Pada and s’Argamassa. I didn’t visit, but the concept of switching between countryside tranquillity and beachside relaxation during a longer stay makes perfect sense.
Finding Balance
Can Lluc is ideal for combining with a coastal stay, as Ibiza’s appeal is its natural interior and vibrant coasts. Enjoy the best of both worlds, with Michelin star dining and club nights on the coast and restore with yoga and hiking surrounded by the nature of Can Lluc.
