The St Regis Bangkok Review

Rising 47 storeys above Rajadamri Road and towering above its surrounding neighbours, The St Regis Bangkok embodies urbane elegance with its fusion of Thai cultural elements and classic St Regis traditions. Ideally located for both leisure and business travellers to the city, with direct views over the manicured greens of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club and within easy reach of Bangkok’s premier shopping and dining districts. But with a Michelin-starred restaurant, signature cocktail bar, sky-high infinity pool and world-class wellness hub, The St. Regis Bangkok is far more than just a place to stay, it’s a destination in itself. The Luxury Editor recently checked in for a night at The St. Regis Bangkok to explore its suites, cuisine, service and standout design.

Background & Concept

Part of the illustrious St Regis brand, originally established by John Jacob Astor IV in 1904, the brand has long represented the pinnacle of luxury hospitality. Built on traditions that honour timeless rituals and service, it continues to set benchmarks for discretion, elegance and personalisation. The Bangkok property opened its doors in 2011 as part of this prestigious portfolio and was the first St. Regis hotel in Southeast Asia.

Echoing the refined sensibilities of the Astor family and with interiors by Brennan Beer Gorman Architects, the hotel offers a modern residence-style feel which permeates throughout communal spaces and guest quarters, supported by signature touches such as the evening sabrage ritual and the local interpretation of the Bloody Mary, known here as the Siam Mary. Central to the guest experience is its signature butler service, an enduring symbol of the brand’s commitment to individualised attention.

A two-bedroom configuration is ideal for families or small parties. Furnished with a living room, dining room, and media area, guests enjoy bespoke butler assistance, spacious walk-in wardrobes, and sweeping views across the sports club.

Royal Suite (250 m²)

A majestic one-bedroom suite on the 24th floor complete with a grand living room, dining salon, reading nook, and elegant master bedroom. The suite captures panoramic golf-course and city vistas alongside a marble-clad bathroom, expansive walk-in closet, and lavish Chinese-laid furnishings that nod to Thai culture.

Caroline Astor Suite (90–115 m²)

During my stay, I was hosted in the Caroline Astor Suite positioned on the hotel’s front-facing right-hand corner on the 24th floor. Named in honour of Mrs Caroline Astor, the legendary matriarch of New York society and mother of St. Regis founder John Jacob Astor IV, the suite embodies her refined sensibilities and gracious approach to hospitality. A tastemaker of the Gilded Age, Mrs Astor was renowned for her intimate salon gatherings and meticulous attention to detail, qualities that still influence the brand’s ethos today.

Spacious and well-appointed, the Caroline Astor Suite offers a refined residential feel throughout. The bedroom is dressed in neutral tones with textured wall panels, a king-sized bed is flanked by sleek nightstands, while a discreet entertainment unit is set just below the panoramic dual aspect corner windows.

By day the bedroom’s corner windows frame the Bangkok skyline looking up towards Siam, come nightfall, the scene transforms into a glittering cityscape, with towers lit up in golden hues as the BTS SkyTrain quietly winds its way through the urban expanse.

The hallmark of any stay at The St. Regis Bangkok is the signature butler service, an unobtrusive presence available to guests in all suites. From the moment of arrival, the team is on hand to assist with unpacking and garment pressing. On the morning of my departure, as requested, a perfectly timed delivery of hot coffee, cold milk and a biscuit on the side. In the evening, turndown service brings its own sense of ritual. Slippers are neatly laid out on a pressed white mat by the bedside, and a weather card is placed discreetly with the forecast for the next day.

The lounge area is designed for both relaxation and entertaining. A soft cream sofa, flanked by upholstered armchairs, sits beneath carved wood wall panels, while a round dining table with velvet-upholstered chairs is ideal for in-room dining or casual meetings. Just off the lounge, a spacious office desk provides a dedicated workspace complete with classic reading lamps, stationery, and ample surface area. A well-stocked coffee console features a curated minibar, wine and spirit selection, fine glassware, and a sleek black drawer filled with snacks and essentials.

Between the bedroom and bathroom, a dual-sided walk-through wardrobe, on one side, robes, an iron and board, slippers and ample hanging space along with a safe box.

Moving through the dual-sided walk-through closet, the marble bathroom evokes a serene, spa-like ambience. Its centrepiece is its freestanding bathtub set beside floor-to-ceiling windows. Opposite, a generously proportioned rainfall shower is enclosed by sleek glass panels and finished with marble tiling. Twin vanities, each framed by ornate bevelled mirrors, provide ample space for daily rituals, while an extensive drawer of amenities includes everything from cotton buds and shower caps to shaving cream and an emery board.

The Owner’s Penthouse

At the pinnacle of luxury living, the two‑storey, three‑bedroom Owner’s Penthouse accommodates up to eight guests. It features a private terrace with infinity pool (approx. 7 m), a fully equipped home theatre, private spa and jacuzzi, dedicated gym, and its own dining room suitable for up to 15 guests. Personal butler service attends to your every need from resident breakfast to garment handling and pressing.

IGNIV Bangkok (Michelin-Starred)

Time didn’t allow on my trip, but definitely one for my next visit – This acclaimed Michelin Star ground-floor restaurant, by Andreas Caminada, the Swiss founding chef of IGNIV and head chef of the internationally acclaimed 3-Michelin-starred restaurant Schloss Schauenstein in Switzerland, IGNIV is all about a unique fine dining sharing experience. Menus are seasonal, whimsical, light and fresh with traditional cooking techniques, while Ingredients are sourced both locally and internationally, direct from artisans and through specialist distributors.

The Lounge

Exuding quiet sophistication with its high ceilings and Art Deco-inspired furnishings. This hotel’s lounge is best known for its classic afternoon tea, served daily with a refined selection of finger sandwiches, delicate pastries, and freshly baked scones. In the evening, the lounge hosts the hotel’s signature sabering ritual, a dramatic tradition in which a bottle of champagne is opened with a sabre, marking the start of the evening’s indulgences.

The St Regis Bar & Lounge

Sophisticated and moody, The St. Regis Bar is the perfect destination for a pre-dinner aperitif or nightcap. Signature cocktails are the highlight here, most notably the Siam Mary, a local twist on the brand’s iconic Bloody Mary, infused with Thai chillies, wasabi and lemongrass for a bold, spicy finish.

Zuma & Sushi Kishin

Also set on the ground floor, Zuma brings its internationally renowned style of contemporary Japanese dining to the St Regis. The restaurant’s design is sleek and ambient, with raw textures, dark woods, and glowing accent lighting creating a dramatic yet inviting setting. The open kitchen showcases chefs at work, with dishes prepared on the robata grill and sushi counter. The menu is designed for sharing, while a curated sake list and creative cocktails enhance the dining experience.

VIU

Located off the lobby on the 12th floor with panoramic views across the Royal Bangkok Sports Club, the morning service includes a huge breakfast spread offering both buffet and made-to-order meals while dinner brings a more intimate atmosphere with an à la carte menu alongside creative tasting menu options.

The Longevity Hub by Clinique La Prairie

Completely unique to any wellness offering in Bangkok, is the property’s Longevity Hub by Clinique La Prairie, the first of its kind in Thailand. This space brings the Swiss brand’s science-backed approach to vitality and into a hotel environment. The treatment menu includes everything from advanced facials and detox protocols to cryotherapy, IV drips and oxygen chambers. I opted for a cellular consultation, which began with a high-tech skin diagnostic to assess hydration, elasticity and underlying stress markers. This was followed by an oxygen chamber session, where I reclined inside a hyperbaric pod designed to boost circulation and enhance cellular regeneration.

Outdoor Swimming Pool

The 15th-floor outdoor infinity pool provides a serene respite, overlooking the city and golf course, complemented by loungers and a whirlpool. The adjoining 24-hour fitness centre, equipped with TechnoGym facilities, also includes a boxing and Muay Thai ring.

Final Thoughts

With its stunning setting and attention to detail, The St. Regis Bangkok manages to feel both timeless and contemporary. The hotel’s combination of residential-style comfort, signature rituals and world-class dining and wellness offerings positions it not just as a luxury hotel but as one of the city’s most complete hospitality experiences.
