Horizn Studios is an innovative luxury luggage and accessories brand that combines performance with sustainability. Since its 2015 launch in Berlin, it has blended intelligent design—think removable chargers and recycled materials—with high-end aesthetics and does so whilst embracing ethical business practices.  Their proprietary Circle One luggage marks a new era in eco‑luxury, while their limited editions bring creativity, cultural depth and a sense of fun. Origins & Founding

Horizn Studios was established in Berlin in 2015 by Stefan Holwe and Jan Roosen, their ambition was to present the luxury luggage market with an innovative and sustainable offering. From the very beginning, the brand positioned itself as design- and innovation-driven, targeting next‑generation travellers with smart, high‑end and accessories that are of exceptional quality.

At its heart, Horizn Studios operates on the principle “Let’s Go. Further.”—a commitment to challenge conventions and push boundaries through curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. Sustainability is an integral part of all they do and they operate a circular economy model: products are engineered to last a lifetime, are repairable, and are designed to be as eco‑friendly as possible. It’s not only the product range that emphasises sustainability – business operations and company culture embrace a socially responsible ethos too.

Highlights of their sustainability efforts include:

  • Animal‑friendly production: Horizn is the first luggage brand to earn the PETA‑Approved Vegan label, and in 2020, won their Vegan Travel Award for Best Luggage.
  • Materials & production: Lining and zippers are fully recycled. Selected ranges, such as Chiado and Shibuya, use exclusively reused fabrics. Production generates minimal waste, with offcuts recycled or repurposed.
  • Packaging: No single‑use plastics. Luggage is shipped in reusable cotton dust bags (I must say I love the dust bag almost as much as I love the suitcase itself!!), backpacks and accessories use compostable PLA bags. Outer packaging comprises recycled cardboard.
  • Carbon‑neutral logistics: The brand offsets CO₂ through verified climate‑positive projects. Their offices and stores run on green energy, and staff are incentivised to use public transport or bicycles.
  • Social initiatives: The “Horizn Together” programme, launched in 2020 with Kiron, offers displaced and marginalised youth free access to education. They also back emerging visual and musical talent through their “Horizn Art Programme”

Horizn Studios offers a comprehensive range of travel products that includes:

  • Luggage:
    • Smart Series: Since 2016, luggage featuring a removable power charger—a first in the market.
    • RE Series: Made from 97 per cent recycled polycarbonate—post‑consumer waste like CDs—and featuring fully recycled interiors; comes with a lifetime warranty and TSA‑approved locks.
    • Circle One: A revolutionary, fully plant‑based and biodegradable hard shell made from flax‑fibre weave (BioX). Lighter than aluminium, more durable than regular polycarbonate. Every part is repairable—never replaceable.
  • Backpacks, Bags & Accessories:
    • Daily‑use, travel, roll‑top, laptop and commuter backpacks.
    • Spotlight items—e.g. the Gion Backpack Travel (water‑resistant tarpaulin with smart compartments) and SoFo variations (so versatile they function like a suitcase but wear as a backpack).
    • Weekenders, business, crossbody and tote bags, plus accessories such as packing cubes, cardholders, wallets, suitcase protection sleeves, laptop cases and wash bags.

Quality Assurance

Horizn stands behind its craftsmanship. Since 1 February 2023, all luggage benefits from a Lifetime Manufacturer’s Guarantee. Soft goods (bags, backpacks, accessories) come with a two‑year guarantee when registered online, or one year unregistered.

Innovation & Limited Editions

Beyond the classic collections, Horizn excels at combining culture and creativity through its limited‑edition offerings. Collaborations with forward‑thinking, aligned brands and creators include BMW, Beats by Dre, Soho House, DJ Seth Troxler (Pro Model ST DJ), NASA astronaut Alyssa Carson (space luggage), and artist Emeka Ogboh (Lagos‑inspired edition).

Each limited edition brings a unique element that is representative of the collaboration, be it a design function, cultural resonance or a particular finish.
