Nestled in the old city, within the Neve Tzedek district, Elkonin stands out, with its French architecture, shuttered windows and wrought-iron balconies. It’s named after the original hoteliers, Malka and Menahem Elkonin, who opened the property in 1913 as the first commercial hotel in Tel Aviv. Since then, 44 boutique bedrooms have hosted illustrious guests such as Albert Einstein. These days Elkonin comes under the MGallery banner, with Époque (a Robuchon restaurant), a Clarins spa (the first in Israel), striking art pieces and a rooftop bar.
