Ocean Club Marbella – Beach Club Bliss

Summer has already arrived in the Mediterranean; and there’s probably no better place to get into a holiday vibe than at the chic and stylish Ocean Club Marbella.

Set close the beach, overlooking the sparkling sea, Ocean Club has established itself as one of the finest beach clubs in the Mediterranean. Just a few minutes’ walk from the superyachts moored in Marbella’s iconic Puerto Banus, this legendary club is now open for the 2019 season.

We stopped by the get a flavour of the what’s to be enjoyed by the beach chic, glamorous holiday maker visiting Marbella this year.

Mediterranean Beach Club

Beach Clubs are without doubt the most sophisticated way to enjoy the pleasures of the Mediterranean coast, and Ocean Club Marbella is undoubtedly amongst the very finest. Set right on the beach, offers guests uninterrupted 180-degree views across the Mediterranean Sea, and on a clear day one can see the Africa; and there are amazing sunsets!

At the heart of Ocean Club is a 4,000sqm turquoise seawater pool round which are wooden decks with parasols and day beds – it’s an exclusive place to sunbathe and chill with friends, and all against the soundtrack of the club’s resident and guest DJs. There’s friendly and attentive waiter service too – so just kick back, relax and have the time of your life.

Enjoy freshly created cocktails from the superb drinks list, curated by renowned mixologists, or choose from the menu of Mediterranean and international dishes, all designed for summer dining.

During our visit we particularly liked the relaxed friendly inclusive atmosphere. It was exclusive, but not elitist. There were guests of all ages enjoying the pool, sunbathing and having lunch in the restaurant,

‘AMAÏ by OC’ Restaurant

We headed Ocean Club’s restaurant called ‘AMAÏ by OC’. It’s a dedicated space, where the tables are shaded by parasols, and offer views out across the sea.

The service was superb – really attentive, but not overly, they just got the balance right. They clearly are experienced with serving VIPs as the professional, well-presented team were natural and friendly – yet understood when yo respect privacy and allow guests to enjoy the meal and time in the sun.

I ordered an Ocean Club Bellini – such a great way to start the lunch. The wine and cocktail list is tempting, with a selection of wines and champagnes, as well as beers and spirts.

The food was impressive. Very fresh, and great presentation. Real attention to detail. Little things like the high standard of the bread and the olive oil really showed that the restaurant was focused on quality

The sushi, sashimi and nigiri are great to order when by the pool.

They also make a good way to start a meal, so we tucked into Tempura Tiger Pawn rolls.

The burrata is popular these days on lots of menus but here it is prepared in an original way with a crispy black olive base and served with Roma tomatoes.

The coconut crusted cod with lemon grass, lime & sambal sauce was excellent – understandably a signature dish.

The Singapore Style Snow Crab came with scallops, and tiger prawns in a flavoursome broth.

The menu has plenty of fresh fish, seafood including lobsters, meats as well as high-end wagu beef burger – all skilfully prepared by Swedish executive chef, Andreas Nygren, and his team. There are pizzas that are perfect for sharing by the pool, as well as wellness healthy dishes and sandwiches.

Not forgetting sweat treats too.

Distinguished sommelier Jean Pierre is on hand to advise and recommend the finest wines and champagnes to compliment every dish.

Great Music & Friday Sessions

Of course, a great beach club is more than just the pool, sunshine and food – it’s about the cool tracks too. Ocean Club has four resident DJ’s creating memorable sets. Ocean Club has also welcomed the likes of guest DJ’s, Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo and Sonny Fodera in recent years.

Start the weekend right with Friday Sessions at Ocean Club Marbella – great DJs, music, drinks and company.
