Meribel is the most westerly of Les Trois Vallees ski resorts in the French Alps and refers to Meribel Centre, Meribel-Mottaret and Meribel Village, three neighbouring villages in the Savoie department of France. Linked by ski lifts and slopes with Val-d’Isere and Courchevel, (requiring only one ski pass), Meribel is at the heart of the largest connected ski area in the world. No chance of a dull day! Meribel Centre is, as its name suggests, the main town of the resort and is where you’ll find shops, facilities and a very vibrant nightlife. La Chaudanne, the main junction of all the lifts to the rest of Meribel and Les Trois Vallees, is situated at the centre of the village, meaning you’re right in the heart of all the action. Meribel is considered the prettiest of all the resorts, with its picture-postcard chalets and dramatic landscape. As with the other Les Trois Vallees resorts, Meribel is at an altitude high enough to be considered ‘snow-sure’ and it is also home to around 2,000 snow cannons, just to be certain! The ski season runs between the beginning of December to late April.
Le Manoir
Built for the local Notary at the end of the 18th century, Le Manoir is situated in the centre of Morzine and only 200m from the piste and has been converted into one of the most beautiful homes in the resort. It’s the perfect mix of traditional French charm and elegance, with modern convenience and luxury – the furnishings are sumptuous and sit comfortably in their traditional surroundings featuring high ceilings, large rooms with ornate plasterwork, and stunning mosaic floors. The fairly recent restoration and transformation of Le Manoir allowed for the seamless integration of all the modern essentials like walk-in showers, roll-top baths, flat-screen TVs with UK FreeSat, and WiFi in every room. With five beautifully decorated bedrooms, each with their own en-suite, and three of which have extra beds in ‘kids’ corners’(one single and two sets of bunks), Le Manoir can easily accommodate 10 to 15 guests. There are two sitting rooms, one formal with a roaring fire, and the other a TV snug. In the converted cellar, there’s an impressive cinema room with a pool table as well as a spacious and well-appointed ski room and bike store. To top it all, there’s an outdoor hot tub with awesome views over the resort.
Chalet Aprege
Chalet Arpege, situated within a 10-minute walk of the resort centre of Meribel, is a stunning, ultra-modern, luxury ski chalet. Designed in the Alpine-style, the rooms are timber-clad with wooden floors and decorated with high-end, modern designer fixtures and fittings, giving it a luxurious and chic feel. With highly desirable ski-in-ski-out access, this gorgeous chalet is the perfect home to come back to, after an energetic day on the slopes. A well-appointed ski room (with boot warmers) is just the spot to shed your ski gear before luxuriating and reinvigorating in the indoor jacuzzi. For some well-earned R&R, you have a choice to table football in the games area, or a movie in the cinema room. Or simply a book by the fire in the sitting room. Take your pick! With 6 bedrooms (each with its own bathroom), Chalet Arpege can easily accommodate up to 14 guests. Two bedrooms have double beds, three are double/twins and the sixth, family bedroom, has a double/twin and a 2-single bunk. The dining room has a large table seating 12 and the separate kitchen is well-equipped and includes the all-important Raclette/Fondue machine! Bon appetite!
Chalet Jossane
Chalet Jossane is a beautiful 3-bedroom apartment, located at the highly desirable Le Rond-point, in Meribel. This is a chalet for those who appreciate luxury and sophisticated design – the décor is a subtle palette of muted, pale greys and earth tones alongside timber and limestone. The open plan living area has floor-to-ceiling wrap-around windows that give access to a terrace overlooking the resort – just the spot to relax and enjoy the breathtaking alpine views. The bedrooms each have their own bathrooms – two doubles and a 4-berth bunk room – and will accommodate up to 8 guests. There is also access to a shared gym and spa, underground parking and a ski and boot locker. Being so close to Le Rond-point, you have easy access to the piste and lifts meaning you’re on the slopes in no time. Bon ski!
Chalet Le Cygne
Situated in Belvedérè, Meribel, within the exclusive Le Yana residence, Chalet Le Cygne is a 4-bedroom, duplex penthouse that oozes luxury and comfort and is everything you could wish for in a ski chalet. Ski in direct from the Rhodos piste, pop your boots on the boot warmers, your skis in the ski room, and relax in the sauna before chilling with a glass of champagne, taking in the panoramic views over the Meribel Valley. What’s not to love? In terms of accommodation, Chalet Le Cygne is quite beautifully decorated in a modern and luxurious alpine style – sink into sumptuous soft furnishings in the open plan living area in front of a cosy fire. The kitchen has every mod-con you might need when you fancy a night in, and the dining area is both elegant and comfortable. The chalet will comfortably sleep 8 guests across 4 bedrooms; the master is on the main floor and features a hamman shower in its en-suite, and the remaining 3 bedrooms are on the upper floor, one with an en-suite and the other two sharing a Jack-and-Jill style bathroom. There are two covered parking spaces allocated to Chalet Le Cygne and the centre of the resort is a mere 2.2km away.
