A classic British seaside resort, Eastbourne has evolved much over the decades, with attractions such as the contemporary Towner Art Gallery. But its seafront of Victorian buildings, a 19th-century pier and a 1930s bandstand provide a reminder of its long-running holiday heritage. Book into a boutique hotel on the Royal Esplanade to take full advantage of the sea views and access to the beach (ideal if you’re up for a dip).
