With Slovakia becoming one of the trendiest travel spots for those in the know, this medieval river city is certainly one to add to your to-do list. Kosice is found at the eastern edge of the Slovak Ore Mountains, close to the Hungarian border and with an airport and great rail connections, it’s super accessible for a city break. The Old Town features a Lower Gate archaeological complex with fortifications dating to the 13th century, a square with a Gothic cathedral and a 14th-century chapel and an abundance of cafes and restaurants. Also worth visiting in Kosice, is St. Urban’s Tower with its museum of wax figurines.
