A most unusual place to stay, Sveti Stefan is found on a fortified islet, providing enhanced levels of privacy and exclusivity – only paying guests are allowed here. The resort is housed across two sections, a 1930s villa and the original 15th century stone buildings. It had a past life as summer home for the Serbian Royal Family, but has since hosted Holywood icons such as Elizabeth Taylor. Two outdoor pools are found on Sveti Stefan, with another indoor pool within The Aman Spa. There’s also a boutique, the Avra Adriatic-style restaurant, the Dining Room for Montenegrin cuisine, a modern Italian Taverna and a Nobu (opened by Robert de Niro).
Ananti Resort, Residences & Beach Club
With a name that translates roughly as joy and peace, Ananti makes clear its mission from the off. It’s set on an unspoilt verdant hillside beside a private beach on the Budva Riviera in Rezevici. Accommodating plush suites and multi-bedroom villa residences that have been inspired by Asian and Middle Eastern traditions, this is a boutique property with expansive private terraces to take full advantage of the sweeping views.
