For over four centuries, Bushmills has remained at the forefront of Irish whiskey craftsmanship. Now, the distillery has unveiled a masterpiece that epitomises the power of patience and the hidden wonders that time can reveal – Bushmills 46-Year-Old ‘Secrets of The River Bush’.
Marking a new step into the world of ultra-prestige single malts, Bushmills presents the oldest Irish single malt whiskey ever released. It’s the legacy of over four decades, meticulously cared for by two generations of craftspeople, each bottle infused with time-honoured secrets. With only 300 bottles available worldwide, this is a true collector’s piece for the most discerning whiskey connoisseurs.
This rare single malt is a celebration of the River Bush, which has flowed through the heart of Bushmills since the brand’s story began in 1608. The river’s journey over the beds of black basalt, the same iconic rock that forms the world-famous Giant’s Causeway has played an essential role in every drop of Bushmills whiskey for over 415 years.
The whiskey has been matured for almost half a century in Oloroso sherry butts sourced from the esteemed Antonio Paez Lobato Cooperage in Jerez, Spain. These casks have imparted a rich mahogany hue and deep layers of complexity to the spirit, creating a luxurious drinking experience.
On the nose, Secrets of The River Bush presents a unique harmony of ripe dark fruits, sweet apricot, caramel, and waves of warm oak. The palate unfolds with an intensely rich and spicy medley of cinnamon, crushed clove, and nutmeg, deepening into luscious black cherries and apricots. The finish is smooth yet robust, leaving lingering notes of roasted coffee, oak, and warm toffee.
Bushmills 46-Year-Old ‘Secrets of The River Bush’ is housed in a beautiful handcrafted hexagonal presentation box, designed to reflect the natural contours of the River Bush and the surrounding landscape of Bushmills village. The walnut case features intricate topographical detailing, while gold engraving along the centre pays tribute to the river’s journey to the Old Bushmills Distillery a path it has followed for millennia, long before the first whiskey was ever distilled in 1608.
Bottled at 46.3% ABV, only 300 sequentially numbered bottles of Secrets of The River Bush are being released globally, with an RRP of $12,500. This extraordinary whiskey is not just a drink but a rare piece of history, a testament to time, craftsmanship, and the relentless pursuit of perfection by Bushmills.
