Glen Scotia, the multi-award-winning Campbeltown distillery, has released its highly anticipated limited-edition single malt for the Campbeltown Malts Festival 2026, capturing the maritime spirit of Scotland’s smallest whisky-producing region.
Aged seven years and matured in first-fill bourbon barrels before a six-month finish in ruby port casks, the release delivers a dual-cask profile: ripe red fruit, gentle sweet peat and warming spice, all carried on the coastal undertone that has become Glen Scotia’s signature. Bottled at cask strength (53.9% ABV) and non-chill filtered.
Master blender Ashley Smith says, “This year’s Festival Release is a true celebration of Glen Scotia’s big Campbeltown character. It offers Glen Scotia’s distinctive maritime salinity, which is complemented with layers of gentle peat, and vibrant red fruit and warming spice brought by the ruby port cask finish. This year’s release also offers an immersive on-pack experience: scanning a QR code transports you inside the distillery to meet the team whose craft and passion shape every bottle and help keep alive the community spirit that defines Campbeltown, once celebrated as the Victorian whisky capital of the world.
The Campbeltown Malts Festival itself takes place on 19 and 20 May 2026, with a programme of ticketed and free events including masterclasses, tastings and heritage tours. Highlights include a deep-dive into the new Glen Scotia 12 Year Old with Loch Lomond Group master blender Michael Henry, a reveal of the craftsmanship behind this year’s festival release with brand ambassador Gary Mills, and a maritime cask exploration led by Ashley Smith, tracing how sherry, rum and wine casks continue to define Glen Scotia’s house style.
