Glenglassaugh has released a 15-Year-Old single malt, the first addition to the coastal distillery’s core range since its portfolio relaunch in 2023. Founded in 1875 overlooking Sandend Bay on the Moray Firth, Glenglassaugh lay silent for more than two decades before production resumed in 2008. This latest expression is matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry and Spanish wine casks, filled with the distillery’s ripe, tropical style of spirit made from mineral-rich spring water, then aged in warehouses within sight of the sea. That coastal environment shapes the house style across the range, with the 12 Years Old, Sandend and Portsoy each taking Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in both 2025 and 2026.
Rachel Barrie, Master Blender for Glenglassaugh, said: “The 15 Years Old is a magnificent natural evolution, showing how our coastal location shapes the lush Glenglassaugh spirit over time. Creating this expression, I was inspired by time spent on the beach at Sandend Bay, while the sun sets over the North Sea. I’ve layered Pedro Ximénez sherry and Spanish wine casks to give breathtaking and indulgent depth of flavour. Every sip offers the signature coastal character of Glenglassaugh, enveloped in a luxurious date, orange papaya and chocolate elixir.”
On the nose, it opens with chocolate sauce and salted caramel, combined with bright Spanish orange, dark manuka honey and rich date. The palate brings salted treacle and caramelised date, with juicy orange papaya, wrapped in chocolate and coffee, with the distillery’s signature touch of sea salt throughout.
Glenglassaugh 15 Years Old is bottled at natural colour and 46% ABV and available exclusively from The Whisky Exchange.
