(5 stars)Inspired by the serenity of nature and the dynamics of the human mind, Rooms Hotels opened their Kazbegi property back in 2012. Retro nods to the area’s Soviet past (this was once a sanatorium) combine with colourful local textiles, deep leather armchairs, furnishings by Flamant and Restoration Hardware and raw timber that’s been reclaimed from dilapidated buildings in Georgia’s west. There’s a large shared space with filled bookcases and the feel of a fashionable private members’ club; a casino that mixes up some decadent cocktails; and below ground, a wellness centre, with a 30-foot heated pool and mountain views.
