Best Luxury Hotels in Edinburgh
Edinburgh, not only is this wonderful city Scotland’s capital, it’s also home to The Luxury Editor’s HQ. Known worldwide for its captivating blend of history, culture, vibrant food scene and great choice of luxury hotels, it’s no wonder that this is one of Europe’s most popular city breaks. With an ever-evolving calendar of events along with firm favourites like the famous Fringe Festival and Hogmanay, and the many different attractions including Royal Yacht Britannia, The Castle, The Johnnie Walker Experience, Arthur’s Seat and Calton Hill, Palace of Holyroodhouse, Royal Botanic Gardens, and many art galleries and museums, the tricky part is deciding what to do.
As a local we highly recommend making plenty of time to explore the less obvious places and live like a local for the true Edinburgh experience. As a compact and walkable city it means visitors can easily explore the different local neighbourhoods that cater for a great variety of holiday types; The Royal Mile and Old Town for historic sights, the elegant Georgian New Town for style, the hustle and bustle of George Street for shops, the green and family-friendly Stockbridge, independent shop lined Broughton Street, Leith for a creative vibe and also home to many fine dining establishments and Michelin star restaurants (The Kitchin being one of our own favourites)….the list goes on!
Edinburgh is a top choice for a city break, but it also offers visitors easy and convenient access to the coast, the hills and many world-class golf courses a short drive away, too, so extend your trip and explore more of Scotland. Here, we share some of our favourite luxury hotels in our home city, many of which we’ve enjoyed a stay in ourselves and all others meet The Luxury Editor standards for our seal of approval.
