Georgia, Atlanta
W Atlanta Downtown
(4 stars)If you’re looking for the trendiest, most remarkable spot in town, check into the W. Highlights here include an urban-style spa located on the 16th floor, the signature restaurant Local Motives, an underlit 22-ft rooftop pool with a bar and views of the cityscape (dreamy for swimming by day and magical for partying by night), as well as dramatic art installations throughout the property. Atlanta itself has been the inspiration for the bedroom interiors, incorporating Makassar wood, glossy acrylics and hues of mulberry, indigo and teal. The WOW suites offer an extra level of sass, but all rooms come with the brand’s own W Beds, plush pillows and ultra-luxe duvets.
Pennsylvania, Philadelphia
The Rittenhouse Hotel

Meanwhile, humans can receive their share of indulgence at the sleek, contemporary spa and pool. 118 bedrooms are, by contrast, decorated in a more classical style at the Forbes Four-Star hotel, some with four-poster beds. Guests can feast on five-course tasting menus at The Rittenhouse’s fine-dining venue Lacroix, or eat at one of three further venues.
California, Calistoga
Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection
(5 stars)Palm trees stand sentinel at the end of the pool, with neatly arranged plush sun loungers and angular parasols in front of a mountainous backdrop creating an aesthetic that wouldn’t be out of place in – not so far away – Los Angeles. There are another six pools at Solage – one for kids and five geothermal pools in the spa. Rooms here have a calming, minimal feel and botanical toiletries, while some have outdoor patios with sofas, fire pits and hot tubs. Farm-fresh fine cuisine is served in the restaurant, with snacks and drinks available on the terrace during the day.

Sustainability features heavily here, with herb and mushroom gardens onsite, rooftop beehives and water collection systems. In 2023, The Nines was voted #1 Hotel in the Pacific Northwest by Condé Nast Traveler Magazine readers panel.

It also delivers a more agreeable room rate than many other luxury properties on the island.
