The Omani perfume house Amouage, founded in 1983 as ‘the Gift of Kings’ for visiting dignitaries to the Sultanate of Oman, has unveiled a chic residency, Amouage X Nobu Marbella.
The property’s adults-only pool at Nobu Hotel Marbella has been taken over by the house’s newest creation, Love Hibiscus, in what is also Nobu’s first collaboration with a major fragrance house.
A poolside takeover
Nobu Pool Marbella has been remade in scarlet red, the colour of the hibiscus flower that gives the new fragrance its name, while the bar menu has gained a signature hibiscus iced drink and Amouage’s own hibiscus palmiers, an edible echo of the salted caramel note in the perfume. A dedicated pop-up shop, anchored by Amouage’s caterpillar display table, holds the Love Hibiscus collection, with the house’s specialists on hand to advise. Every purchase comes with a cloth flower made by hand in Milan and a sample of the fragrance.
A masterclass on Saturdays
The residency’s centrepiece is a weekly Secret Garden Masterclass, held poolside at noon every Saturday until 13 June. A fragrance expert leads guests through the story of Amouage, from its origins as a commission by Sultan Qaboos of Oman to the Secret Garden collection and the new Love Hibiscus, and into the art of layering scents and the way a fragrance develops on the skin. The session comes with the hibiscus iced drink and a salted caramel palmier. Places are limited and bookings are taken through Guest Experience at Nobu Hotel Marbella.
An in-room welcome
Guests of the hotel find Love Hibiscus arriving as the new welcome amenity in their rooms for the duration of the residency, and those staying in the villas receive the full Love Hibiscus bath line, including shower gel and hair mist.
The house behind it
Amouage was founded in Oman in 1983, commissioned by Sultan Qaboos as a fragrance reserved for the Sultanate’s visiting dignitaries, and the title ‘Gift of Kings’ has stayed with the house ever since. Its Secret Garden collection now includes Love Hibiscus, a scarlet, gourmand and opulent scent inspired by the hibiscus of the Omani landscape, which has found its summer home at Nobu Pool.
