An evening of rare Bordeaux and Italian fine dining at Cipriani Marbella. On the evening of Wednesday 23 July, Cipriani Marbella will host a quietly significant moment in the European wine calendar. Château Haut-Brion, one of Bordeaux’s oldest and most revered estates, will present six of its finest Ex-Château wines in Spain for the first time.
The bottles, drawn directly from the château’s own cellars, include Château Haut-Brion, Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc and Rouge, La Clarté de Haut-Brion, and Château Quintus. Each has been kept in perfect condition since bottling, never released into circulation, and rarely seen outside the estate’s walls.
Guiding the evening is Guillaume Alexandre Marx, Director of Sales at Domaine Clarence Dillon. His presence brings a direct line to the family-owned estate and its remarkable lineage, offering insight not only into each wine, but also into the philosophy that has guided Haut-Brion since the 16th century.
Dinner is led by Chef Stefano Poli, who has created a menu rooted in Cipriani’s Venetian heritage, with each course designed to meet the nuance and structure of the wines. The setting is Cipriani Marbella’s timeless dining room, imagined by Michele Bönan, offering a sense of occasion without pretence.
This is not a showcase. It is a precise, rare moment. For those who understand what Ex-Château means, this is provenance at its most exacting. Six vintages, perfectly preserved. No middlemen. No compromise. Just wine as it was meant to be tasted.
With only a limited number of seats, the dinner forms part of Puente Romano Marbella’s growing focus on serious wine events. Under Wine Programme Director Alejandro Marcos, the resort has quietly hosted producers including Château d’Yquem and now adds Haut-Brion to that list.
