Internationally acclaimed Sani Festival 2024, Stars on the Hill, returns to Sani Resort, Greece, featuring global music legends, set to perform on the iconic Sani hill overlooking the Aegean Sea.

Sani Resort has unveiled its line-up for this summer’s annual Sani Festival. An internationally acclaimed music festival that takes place at world’s leading luxury beach resort in Greece each year. Sani Festival has been welcoming international artists to perform atop their iconic Sani Hill for over three decades.

Taking place every Saturday night from July into August, this year’s 32nd edition of the Sani Festival has attracted another stellar array of globally acclaimed artists performing classical, jazz, soul, R&B, pop and ethnic music, on the Kassandra peninsula, with breathtaking views over the Aegean Sea. The largest privately organised festival in Greece, this year’s Sani Festival line up includes legendary artists of the global music scene: Plácido Domingo, Tom Jones, the Gipsy Kings, Madeleine Peyroux. A dedicated concert to Greek Music will pay musical tribute in appreciation of the centenary of the famed Mimis Plessas, one of the most distinguished Greek composers of all time.

Sani Festival – 2024 Line Up Announced

The legendary Plácido Domingo will be opening this year’s festival, gracing the stage on 6th July to provide an unforgettable evening with one of the greatest operatic tenors of all time. With an illustrious career including some 150 roles and more than 4.400 performances, over a hundred recordings, and an impressive collection of 12 Grammy Awards,he is rightfully recognized as one of the finest and most influential singing actors in the history of opera.

Performing on Sani Hill on Saturday 6th July, the musical maestrois guaranteed to enchant. Performing beside him will be the tenor, Mario Frangoulis, a classical crossover artist known to the world for his powerhouse vocals and charismatic live performances, and the soprano Christina Poulitsi, an enchanting performer declared “one of the best interpreters of the role of the Queen of the Night” in Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’”. On stage for this performance will also be the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, one of the major and historical symphonic ensembles in Greece, under the gifted direction of Jordi Bernàcer.

Acclaimed jazz singer-song writer, Madeleine Peyroux, will be returning to Sani Festival this year on 13th July – a decade since she last performed on the hill. Twenty years since her famous album ‘Careless Love’ sold half a million copies Madeleine Peyroux returns to Sani Hill with her most courageous work to date, ‘Let’s Walk.’ The album cleverly interweaves jazz, folk, and chamber pop, with themes ranging from the confessional to the political, whimsical and yearning.

On 20th July, Sani Festival welcomes international icon Tom Jones, to perform upon Sani Hill. With a career spanning over six magnificent decades, Tom Jones has consistently mesmerized audiences with his timeless melodies, hit songs and unparalleled charisma, solidifying his place as one of the greatest singers and recording artists of all time.

Sani Festival is honoured to host on 27th July a musical tribute in appreciation of the centenary of the famed Mimis Plessas, one of the most distinguished Greek composers of all time. Born in the cultural epicenter of Athens in 1924, Plessas’ musical legacy transcends generations, earning him universal acclaim and adoration. With almost a century of musical mastery to his name, including scores for 104 films and 70 theatrical productions, Plessas’ influence on three generations of Greeks is truly unmatched. From the soul-stirring ‘Who knows/Pios to xerei’ to the enchanting ‘I will drink tonight the moon/Tha pio apopse to feggari,’ Plessas’ melodies have woven themselves into the fabric of Greek culture. This homage will be enriched by the performances of renowned Greek artists Stefanos Korkolis, Dimitris Mpasis and Sofia Manousaki, who shall guide the audience on a magical journey celebrating a century of Plessas.

International pop-sensation Emeli Sandé will be performing the likes of Next To Me, Clown and Heaven on 3rd August. In 2012, she delivered a mesmerising performance at the London Olympics, followed by winning the Critics’ Choice prize at the BRIT Awards in 2013. Praised by legendary artists such as Madonna and Alicia Keys, her debut album ‘Our Version of Events’ remains one of the best-selling records of the 2010s, featuring hit singles like ‘Heaven’, ‘Read All About It’, and ‘Next To Me.’ Now touring with her fifth studio album, ‘How Were We To Know,’ Emeli Sandé will grace Sani Hill on Saturday, August 3rd, with an unforgettable performance, enchanting the audience with her powerful voice and melodies.

Closing this year’s Sani Festival on 10th August with a journey through the gypsy music tradition, is the world-renowned Gipsy Kings featuring Tonino Baliardo. Cousin of the great Manatas De Plata, the founder and leader of Gipsy Kings, Tonino Baliardo is a guitar virtuoso and highly esteemed composer, known for much-loved hits such as ‘Bamboleo’ and ‘Djobi Djoba’.
