Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou introduces TANG, a new modern Chinese bistro led by acclaimed two-MICHELIN-starred Chef Fei. This new dining concept celebrates the vibrant flavours of Chaoshan and Lingnan heritage in a lively and contemporary setting. The experience extends to its adjoining cocktail bar, LIÁNG, creating a seamless day-to-night culinary destination within the hotel.
Located in the heart of Guangzhou’s Tianhe District, Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou has long been a landmark for refined Cantonese dining, and TANG continues this tradition with a dynamic approach to regional cuisine. Designed by the renowned Steve Leung Design Group, the 210-seat restaurant spans 1,420 square metres and blends traditional design cues with modern aesthetics. Expect an open kitchen, dramatic art walls, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a green terrace, and two private dining rooms for more intimate gatherings.
Chef Fei, who first introduced Jiang by Chef Fei at the hotel’s opening in 2013, describes TANG as “the living room of a grand residence”, a social and culinary space that feels both elegant and inviting. The menu pays homage to Cantonese and Chaoshan traditions while embracing modern culinary artistry, including techniques such as fermentation and open-fire cooking. Signature dishes include Braised Pork Feet, Sliced Braised Goose, Cold Nan’ao Island Red Crab, Pan-fried Oyster Omelette, and Peking Duck, complemented by classic soups and Hakka-style Salt-baked Chicken. Desserts such as Chaoshan Sweet Taro Paste with Ginkgo and Double-layer Steamed Milk Custard add a comforting finish.
The experience continues at LIÁNG, a concept bar inspired by the Lingnan architectural crossbeam symbolising balance and creativity. Cocktails are crafted around the Five Elements – Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water – exploring harmony through inventive mixology techniques.
