The Laurus, A Luxury Collection Resort, Opens at Resorts World Sentosa

Singapore has gained a new landmark in hospitality with the opening of The Laurus, A Luxury Collection Resort. Marking the brand’s debut in the city, the property is set within Resorts World Sentosa and introduces an all-suite concept designed to offer both sanctuary and cultural immersion.

The Laurus spans more than 7,600 square metres and houses 183 suites, each conceived with a residential approach that blends colonial and tropical influences. Interiors, designed by Bangkok-based studio P49 Deesign, pair open verandas with monochromatic accents, creating a sophisticated dialogue between Singapore’s heritage and a modern sense of ease. Throughout the hotel, orchids pay homage to the nation’s floral emblem, while artworks and design elements evoke the perspective of a global collector. Notable among them are original pieces from the William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings and a striking stained-glass installation of the Buffy Fish Owl, a species once native to Singapore’s mangroves and here used as a symbol of wisdom and guardianship.

Guests are greeted with Voyage Céleste, a scent created with Maison21G, carrying notes inspired by the coastal surroundings of Sentosa. A welcome drink infused with local botanicals follows, alongside a presentation of Nyonya kueh, artisanal kaya biscuits and tropical fruit confections. This attention to detail extends to the suites, which feature locally sourced refreshments such as ETTE Tea’s Singaporean-inspired blends, Notter Nuts’ bespoke seaweed flavour, and chocolates crafted by Mr. Bucket Chocolaterie using Asian cacao.

The hotel’s restaurant, Laurus Table, is led by a consultant chef with a focus on sustainability and the culinary traditions of the region. Dining is complemented by a landscaped pool, a spa, and a fitness centre, offering both indulgence and restoration. The lobby is anchored by a chandelier designed by Lasvit, fashioned from hand-blown glass leaves inspired by laurel branches, a motif that underscores the property’s name and identity.

The integration of local culture also extends to the art programme. The Laurus features photography by Isabelle Lim, who is hearing impaired, and large-scale paintings by Natalie Holstad, a Norwegian-Singaporean artist living with ankylosing spondylitis. Both artists are part of ART:DIS, a non-profit supporting creatives with disabilities. Their works add a personal and expressive layer to the guest experience, while reinforcing the resort’s ethos of inclusivity.

Outdoors, a sensory garden has been designed to foster biodiversity, with native plantings, pollinator habitats and nesting spaces that encourage ecological balance. This mirrors the resort’s broader narrative, which ties together heritage, community, and environmental responsibility with the comforts of contemporary luxury.
