W Hotels has officially arrived in Saudi Arabia with the opening of W Riyadh – KAFD, marking the lifestyle brand’s debut in the Kingdom and adding another high-profile name to the capital’s rapidly expanding luxury hotel scene.
Located within Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), the 210-room hotel represents more than another addition to Marriott International’s portfolio. It introduces W’s distinctive approach to hospitality to Saudi Arabia for the first time, while reflecting a city that is increasingly positioning itself as a destination for luxury leisure as well as business travel.
Rather than simply applying the brand’s signature aesthetic, W Riyadh has been designed for its setting. Inspiration has been taken from traditional Najdi textiles and the intricate patterns of Al Sadu weaving, blending local influences with the bold colours, contemporary styling and energetic atmosphere that have become synonymous with W Hotels. Commissioned work by Saudi artist Abdulnasser Gharem provides a modern cultural thread, creating interiors that feel connected to Riyadh rather than interchangeable with other W properties around the world.

That philosophy continues across the accommodation. The hotel offers 210 guestrooms and suites, where sculptural furniture, rich jewel tones and bespoke artwork sit alongside smart technology and expansive city views. At the top end of the collection, the two-bedroom W Penthouse spans almost 390 square metres, complete with generous entertaining spaces, a private gym, steam room and sauna.
Dining has been given equal prominence, reinforcing W’s reputation for creating hotels that function as social destinations as much as places to stay. Signature restaurant Sira centres its menu around open-fire cooking inspired by Latin American flavours, while Beni combines speciality coffee with artisanal ice cream in a relaxed café setting. Outside, the WET Deck pairs Mediterranean-inspired dishes with the hotel’s poolside terrace, and later this year the opening of Sahari will introduce an outdoor venue designed for live music and evening entertainment.
Wellness also plays a central role in the guest experience. The hotel’s signature AWAY Spa is designed as an urban retreat, offering a menu of restorative treatments alongside steam and sauna facilities, while the 24-hour FIT fitness centre contains state-of-the-art equipment. Direct access to Riyadh Metro from KAFD also places many of the city’s key districts and King Khalid International Airport within easy reach.
W Riyadh also marks an important addition to the brand’s Middle East portfolio, joining existing W Hotels in destinations including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha. Unlike those openings, however, this is the brand’s first hotel in Saudi Arabia, arriving at a time when Riyadh is undergoing significant investment in luxury hospitality. As international hotel brands continue to expand into the capital, W brings its distinctive lifestyle concept to a market that has become one of the region’s fastest-growing destinations for high-end tourism.
For visitors, W Riyadh introduces a different style of luxury to the Saudi capital. Combining the brand’s energetic social spaces with interiors inspired by local craftsmanship, it offers a contemporary addition to Riyadh’s growing collection of international luxury hotels.
