Ammos – Chic, Beachside Greek Dining at METT Hotel and Beach Resort

The METT Hotel and Beach Resort, between Marbella and Estepona, has elevated its culinary offering with the opening of Ammos, a new Greek-inspired restaurant, which promises to bring the authentic flavours, culinary textures, and aromas of the Aegean islands to the sun-splashed shores of Andalucia. The Luxury Editor booked a table to find out more.

Greek cuisine is a relatively new phenomenon on the Costa del Sol, so Ammos is a welcome addition to the Marbella and Estepona dining scene. The setting is a delight, facing the Mediterranean, with an elegant terrace that stretches out to the broad beach at Costalita.

When you arrive, you are immediately embraced by Mediterranean vibes, transporting you to the sun-kissed shores of the Aegean Sea, where azure waters meet golden sands. The restaurant’s interior features a fresh fish counter with the catch of the day, abundant bougainvillaea blooms, and a long bar where signature cocktails are prepared. The dining is on an intimate terrace, shaded by parasols, and wind sails, allowing the bright sunlight to filter through, casting seductive summery shadows across the tables. The design is on point, perfectly capturing the simplicity and beauty of a Greek beachside sanctuary, with traditional style whitewashed walls, stone floors and pared-back, natural furnishings.

Cocktail O’clock

My advice is to kick off with cocktails. Choose was a signature piña sour, cucumber mule or mastoika mojito – fresh, light, and colourful creations ideally suited to a summery lunch. I was particularly impressed by the presentation and flavours of the Hibiscus Paloma, with hibiscus-infused mezcal, tequila, and grapefruit – a real pleasure. While the classic negroni was given a fresh Mediterranean twist with fig infused vermouth. The drinks menu also extends to sangrias, smoothies and tempting mocktails like the Pomelo Spritz, with grapefruit, paprika, rosemary, agave honey and soda.

Mezze Moments

Sharing plates are the way to go, and here at Ammos, the menu has been designed so that you can create your own mezze of tasty savoury treats like octopus ksidato, crispy anchovies, spicy feta, tzatziki, crispy calamari, and moussaka, to name a few.

To make things easier if dining as a couple or smaller group, opt for the Greek Mezze Tray that gives you a taste of everything, and you can add in one of the fresh Greek salads with either mushrooms, or marinated tomatoes, or maybe the salad with manouri cheese with figs.

The menu is inspired by traditional Greek recipes, reinvented with a modern twist, that are both innovative and rooted in authentic flavours There are almost a dozen main dishes to tempt you, as well as seasonal market specials, like the fresh lobster. The menu covers all bases, from a Cretan vegetarian pasta, to lamb chops, and Josper grilled ribeye, as well as grilled octopus, and seafood orzo.

Greek Vibrancy

Presentation is a treat, intoxicating the senses even before you dive in with your fork. Each dish complements the terrace restaurant’s stylish, minimalist design and views of the sea. The live DJ further elevated the ambience, and also later during the meal, we enjoyed performances by a singer and saxophonist. It’s a captivating vibe, fun, elegant and vibrant. The waiter told us they also have themed nights, so get ready for evenings of dance and plate smashing too!

In the name of research, we tried some desserts, including the signature baklava, the trilogy of chocolate and the loukoumades, those irresistible Greek-style mini doughnut balls.

This was a memorable Geek culinary journey, within a delightful setting, with an appealing ambience, and beautifully presented food. The restaurant is part of the METT Hotel and Beach Resort, but open to the public, with its own entrance.

There is also a dedicated beach, so you can make a day of it.
