Le Meurice Review

Described as one of the most elegant hotels in the world, Hôtel Le Meurice, ‘a love letter to Paris’, is an iconic palace, a timeless beauty that seamlessly blends contemporary twists with 18th-century opulence and old-world charm, topped with a taste of pure Parisian elegance. Just steps from the Louvre, Place de la Concorde and Place Vendôme, its location is as extraordinary as the experience it offers.

Since opening its doors in 1835, Le Meurice has welcomed guests from around the world with refined service and classic Parisian style. In 1997, it became part of the prestigious Dorchester Collection, adding a new chapter to its long and storied history.

From the French windows that open out onto small iron balconies at the front of the hotel, you’ll catch sweeping views of the Tuileries Garden, the glass pyramid of the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. Across the Seine, the Musée d’Orsay stands elegantly on the Left Bank… It’s the kind of view that stays with you.

Inside, the spirit of the hotel is equally breathtaking and captivating. In 2007, the visionary Philippe Starck reimagined its interiors with subtle, surreal flourishes inspired by Salvador Dalí, whose presence still lingers in these walls. Starck brought a fresh and imaginative energy to Le Meurice.

A decade later, Starck returned with his daughter, Ara, to further refine the hotel’s public spaces, preserving its soul while introducing a quiet modernity. Crystal chandeliers shimmer above mirrored salons, while classical forms meet playful touches, creating an atmosphere of effortless sophistication.

Decorated in the style of Louis XVI, the suites on each of the seven floors are beautifully appointed. The perfect way to start the day is with in-room breakfast overlooking the Tuileries Garden; every glance out of the French windows feels like a painting come to life.

For something truly spectacular, spanning over 600m², the Belle Etoile Penthouse Suite offers 360-degree views from its private rooftop terrace. You can see 18 of Paris’s most famous landmarks from here, it’s like having the whole city at your feet. The elegant space offers discretion and is one of the most distinguished suites in all of Paris.

In 2013, multiple Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse took on his role of overseeing all dining at Le Meurice. The hotel’s beautifully restored Restaurant le Meurice Alain Ducasse celebrates his culinary philosophy under the mastery of executive chef Amaury Bouhours.

The two Michelin-starred restaurant boasts an elegant and formal style, with every course echoing the luxury of the surroundings. Starck’s playful touches in the restaurant include iconic Tulip chairs and a sculpture capturing the suspended movement of water by Murano glass artist Aristide Najean. The restaurant opens from Monday to Friday from 7pm to 9:30pm.

Restaurant Le Dalí, inspired by Salvador Dalí, is designed by Philippe Starck and serves delicious and colourful French food with ingredients sourced from the very best local producers. Afternoon tea, crafted by world-famous pastry chef Cédric Grolet, is not to be missed; he creates an unsurpassed afternoon tea.

For an exclusive dining experience, the Chef’s Table offers guests the opportunity to step through a private entrance into the world of the hotel’s private kitchen. Seated at an intimate and private table, Chef Amaury Bouhours guides diners through his carefully crafted menu, while the choreography of the kitchen unfolds before you.
