Lobito de Mar Ibiza, The Site, Playa d’en Bossa – Review

Lobito de Mar Ibiza is a welcoming chiringuito set directly on the sand at The Site in Playa d’en Bossa, and Dani García’s first beach restaurant in Spain. Inviting sun loungers, shaded by thatched parasols, line the beach in front, while those seeking shade sip cocktails on the covered terrace. Inside, it’s boho chic with a cane roof, tumbling bougainvillea and a central ice counter piled with the day’s catch, lobsters and Ibizan rock fish.

Lobito de Mar began in Marbella in 2017 as García’s tribute to the Andalusian beach bar, famously a ‘chiringuito without a beach’. In Ibiza it finally has one. It is the first Lobito de Mar anywhere to sit at the water’s edge, a milestone the group itself calls especially meaningful. The restaurant opened in mid-June 2026 on the shoreline between The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel and BLESS Ibiza The Site, joining sister steakhouse Leña as the second Grupo Dani García address at The Site. Here the beach restaurant has a shaded terrace, a bar running the length of the back wall, as well as sun loungers on the sand with a dedicated menu.

Lunch opened with guacamole prepared at the table and finished with crisp fried baby shrimps, then prawn croquettes, a luxurious take on the Andalusian favourite, Russian salad, here crowned with king crab and ten grams of caviar, and a scallop dressed with soy, citrus and ginger. The main dish was the rice, served tableside from a  large steel paella pan, of rock fish, cuttlefish and Ibizan potatoes.

The menu takes you on a tour of the Spanish coast. There are Sorlut oysters and hand-carved Cinco Jotas ibérico ham, an ‘Ode to red tuna’ with wild almadraba-caught Gadira bluefin from the Cádiz coast, with raw cuts as well as grilled parpatana, Ibiza red prawns, grilled sole and sea bass baked in a salt crust.

We closed with espresso martinis, a chocolate mousse and an amazing cheesecake. Service, led for us by Lydia, was welcoming, energetic and endlessly helpful, everything the setting promised. The group likes to say it builds its restaurants for guests rather than for itself, and on this afternoon that showed.

One honest note. The chiringuito spirit does not stretch to old school chiringuito prices. With caviar-topped salads, premium prawns and a bread and alioli service billed separately per person, a leisurely lunch adds up quickly.

The kitchen runs from 1pm to 4.30pm and the bar and loungers from 10 am to 7 pm.
