Talisker, the iconic distillery on Scotland’s Isle of Skye, has launched a new limited edition release, The Wild Blue, a Single Malt Scotch Whisky that continues the brand’s longstanding bond with the sea. Established in 1830 by the MacAskill brothers, Talisker has always drawn deep inspiration from its coastal surroundings, and this latest release carries that spirit further by supporting vital marine conservation work.
Created in partnership with the Blue Marine Foundation, The Wild Blue not only offers a distinctive tasting experience but also serves a greater purpose. For each bottle produced, a £3 donation will be made to Blue Marine, contributing to a total pledge of £112,608. These funds will help restore oyster reefs and seagrass meadows in the Solent, vital ecosystems that enhance biodiversity and improve water quality along the South Coast of England.

Reflecting the wild beauty of its maritime origins, The Wild Blue has been matured for 16 months in red wine casks sourced from South Africa’s Atlantic coastline, a first for Talisker. This innovative finish imparts a rich depth to the whisky, layering Talisker’s signature smoky character with vibrant notes of dried cranberries, coastal salinity, and the distillery’s classic peppery warmth. With an ABV of 48.2%, the whisky reveals a burnished gold hue and a long, smoky finish evocative of a peat fire on a windswept beach.
Environmental consciousness is at the heart of this release. Following the pioneering approach of Talisker’s earlier Wilder Seas edition, The Wild Blue is presented in a 100% recycled glass bottle and features an elegant ceramic design in place of traditional labelling. It is a thoughtful step forward in sustainable packaging, aligning the brand’s passion for whisky-making with its commitment to ocean preservation.

To mark the launch, Talisker will host The Wild Blue Challenge on 6th June, ahead of World Ocean Day. This open-water swim event will see celebrities and swimming enthusiasts take to the ocean, with an additional £150 donated for every kilometre swum. Further details, including guest participants, will be shared via Talisker’s official Instagram page.
Talisker’s The Wild Blue is available now from selected retailers including The Whisky Exchange, The Whisky Shop, Master of Malt, Whisky World, and Malts.com, priced at £82 per 70cl bottle. More than a whisky, it is a celebration of the ocean’s untamed spirit and a call to protect the natural world that has always shaped Talisker’s story.
