Ibiza has been an island I have had a fascination with for a long time, but never had the chance to visit. Hearing stories from friends of hedonistic nights of clubbing, followed by long lazy days on the beach what’s not to like about it! My day dreaming became reality when we recently received the opportunity to visit and experience Ibiza’s best and most famous luxury hotel for clubbing; The Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel. This A-list hangout has been a hit since it opened thanks to its postcard perfect beach position and clubbing arena which hosts some of the best DJs in the world. So if you are heading to Ibiza for a true White Island experience there really is only one place to go – The Ushuaïa so read on to find out more.
Background and Concept
Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel has been a beacon to Ibiza dance music lovers since it opened back in 2011. The hotel offers a 5 star luxury experience across its two hotel complexes; the Ushuaïa Club and Ushuaïa Tower.
By day lounge by the hotel’s three pools, or head to the beach which connects with the hotel. There are numerous dining options and bars to keep you satisfied and if you want to go full VIP during your stay they have a host of exclusive extras to elevate the luxury experience further.
By night it is home to the best clubbing experiences on the island, and in fact the Ushuaïa helped pioneer the dance music scene on the island. The hotel offers nightly clubbing experiences in its main arena and you can dance on late into the night across the road at Hi (formerly Space) which is also owned by the Ushuaïa and best of all entrance to the all clubbing is free before 11pm if you are staying at the hotel.
Location
In terms of location the hotel ticks multiple boxes, the first being it is a quick ten minutes drive from the airport to the hotel so you can be off the plane and into the action in next to no time, redefining the meaning of a ‘fly and flop’. It is also positioned on Playa d’en Bossa Beach which is a powder soft sandy beach and one of the longest on the island. You are never too far from nightlife here and Ibiza Town is just a little over 3km away too.
Service and Check In
The hotel has the balance of fun / friendly and professionalism just right, staff are super friendly and everyone is there to make your experience special. I was picked up at the airport by a hotel driver and at the check in desk in around 10 mins, bags carried up to my room and ready to join the party! I loved the red wristband that is provided at check in and is used to open your guest room door, buy drinks, food and any extras during your stay.
The Club & Tower
The hotel is split into two areas The Club and The Tower, with the tower being a more recent addition to the Ushuaïa
The Club
If you want to be right in the heart of the action then book a stay at the club, with all rooms and suites located around the main arena and swimming pool you have clubbing on your doorstep.
The Tower
If you want even more exclusivity and a slightly more chilled atmosphere than the club, book into the Tower the newest part of the hotel complex which offers the best suites in the Ushuaïa, exceptional views, a great pool and a fabulous Roof Top Bar to watch the sun go down.
Rooms and Suites
Across the Club and the Tower there are a variety of room and suite options.
The Club
In the Club choose suites with views of the stage like the Stage View Suite offering the best VIP views in the hotel and Front Row Rooms which have direct access to the arena. All rooms and suites throughout the hotel come with a host of goodies, like complimentary daily water, Nespresso machine, rain showers and welcome pack of toiletries by one of my favourite amenity brands Salvatore Ferragamo as well Maxi Bar and USB chargers.
If you want a little more privacy away from the arena then choose one of their Swim Up Rooms with a river current pool outside your door.
Their Oh My God Suite ticks all the boxes for all out luxury. Go from the bed to the Turkish bath and from there to a spectacular transparent bathtub and from there to the bed and then back to the terrace. And stay there until the party begins.
And for sea views their Size Does Matter Suite has a sea view terrace, 140 square meters to unwind in, a spectacular hydro massage tub and Turkish bath.
The Tower
For a more chilled experience then the Tower is the place to book into. For a Stage view book into one of their Anything Can Happen Stage View Suites which includes your own outdoor hydro massage tub and incredible views of the arena. Their Fashion Victim Suites have a shower in the centre of the room and ceiling mirrors, remember this is an adults only hotel after all…
And for the best suite in the house with a price tag to match their I’m on Top Of The World Suite offers everything you could desire!
Food and Drink
The Ushuaïa offers a multiple dining experiences across the hotel complex, ranging from Steak at Montawk, Al Fresco Mediterranean dining at The Beach Restaurant, Japanese at Minami, Oysters and Caviar by the pool and Italian at Sir Rocco.
The Beach Restaurant
At The Beach by Ushuaïa Ibiza you will find dishes to share, freshly-picked lobsters from their own seafood nurseries, exquisite salads, seafood rice dishes, and tempting starters you’ll want just for yourself like the Ushuaïa-style Kobe Burger, or sole rubbed with soy, ginger, scallions, and olive oil. Dine on the terrace or out on the beach, the choice is yours.
Unexpected Breakfast at The Beach Restaurant
The star of the show at the hotel is their Unexpected Breakfast, I have eaten a lot of breakfasts in five-star hotels and this one is one of the best, I would put it up there with the breakfast served at the Anantara Layan Phuket. The breakfast options go on and on and on, offering a labyrinth of coloured stands of surprising flavours for those who like to start the day satisfied. A bit of sweetness, a dash of saltiness, and another mimosa or glass of champagne, please! You can have anything from donuts through to a donner kebab, and all the usual breakfast buffet items you could imagine, you name if they have it!
Montauk Steak House
For carnivores head to Montauk at The Tower where a good steak and a glass of wine is the order of the day. Steaks come from from Spain, England and Alaska and in a range of cuts and cooked to perfection.
Minami
Minami offers a menu of Japanese dishes in a contemporary surrounding. There is sushi and sashimi as well as teppanyaki, noodles, and suggestive vanguard creations that evoke the flavours of both Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine.
Roof Top Bar
At the end of the night head to the Tower’s rooftop bar where you can enjoy cocktails and sunsets and incredible 360 views around Playa d’en Bossa.
The Club
Clubbing is what you come here for and the hotel have the number one outdoor club in Ibiza with the most famous stage in the island. Events change each day and the biggest names in the dance scene play here. Guests at the hotel have free access to all music events in the arena and Hi Club before 11pm
Hï Ibiza
At 11pm the music goes down in the hotel, but is is just getting started across the road at Hï Ibiza. Divided into two main rooms, the Theatre and the Club have impressive light shows and the clubbing experience changes each night showcasing some of the hottest names in the electronic dance music scene. Hï Ibiza has three open air spaces, VIP areas as well as chill out tepees and even a DJ in the unisex bathroom!
The Pools
After a night clubbing you will need some chill time and I loved the pool at The Tower, which includes its own DJ and a plethora of sun loungers and Bali Beds. Just call over a waiter, order a cocktail and sit back and relax.
The Beach
If you like the sand in your toes, the hotel is directly on the beach and there are day beds and loungers as well as waiter service who can bring drinks and food to you.
VIP Experience
You can elevate the luxury experience at the hotel further with their range of VIP services from access to the VIP section of Hï Ibiza, VIP tables in the arena, through to their XPS Spa, or why not set sail round the island chartering one of their exclusive yachts or become DJ for a day in their Recording Studio. Whatever your desire just speak to the concierge team.
Final Thoughts
The hotel is fabulous and mixes the high energy clubbing experience you would expect in Ibiza with 5 star luxury accommodation and VIP experiences that make a stay here extra special. I went to Ibiza a novice and left craving more!
