Viceroy Hotels & Residences has announced a significant new chapter in its global expansion, confirming the addition of three luxury safari lodges across Zambia and Botswana. This move marks the brand’s debut in Africa and signals a commitment to creating immersive stays that bring travellers closer to the continent’s landscapes, wildlife and cultural heritage. Managed in partnership with respected safari operator African Bush Camps, the lodges offer guests a contemporary luxury base from which to experience the African wilderness.
Thorntree River Lodge on the banks of the Zambezi in Zambia’s Mosi oa Tunya National Park provides a privileged vantage point for exploring Victoria Falls. The lodge features elegant suites with private plunge pools, a spa, pool and library, alongside experiences such as rhino tracking, guided walks and river cruises.
Lolebezi, set within five hectares of protected riverfront in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park, offers air-conditioned suites with plunge pools, a yoga deck and an open-air cinema, canoeing, boat trips and walking safaris in an area known for elephants, leopards and prolific birdlife.
Across the border in Botswana, Atzaró Okavango Camp can be found inside the UNESCO recognised Okavango Delta. Walking safaris, mokoro excursions and day or night game drives showcase the region’s biodiversity, while suites within the camp feature plunge pools, expansive decks and access to a spa, swimming pool and yoga area. Each lodge balances contemporary design with its surroundings, creating refined retreats set against some of Africa’s most compelling wilderness.
