H15 Boutique Hotel Review

H15 Boutique Hotel, part of the Design Hotels group is a new luxury accommodation offering in Warsaw, this beautiful property raises the bar and then some offering a completely luxurious and spacious home-from-home right in the heart of the city.

Located in what was a grand private residence, this 19th-century building has a colourful history hosting everything from secret meetings for Polish independence prior to WWI, being home to a Soviet embassy, a headquarters for the Nazi party, and a prize possession of the People’s Republic of Poland.

Today, following a complete top-to-bottom renovation the space boasts 46 rooms and apartment suites, a central glass-covered patio that is flooded with light a restaurant and a bar.

Location

H15 is on one of the city’s oldest streets and the area Śródmieście Południowe has a touch of the Parisian to it – with tree-lined boulevards. It is relatively close to Warsaw’s main train station and the famous Palace of Culture. But do note you will need a taxi or be prepared to walk to reach this old part of town.

Check-in

After traveling for 5 hours from Berlin to Warsaw we were quite weary, but the lovely warm welcome at reception we received re-energised our spirits. Check-in was simple and quick, Wi-Fi details were given and the usual passport info was taken. We were shown to our room and all rooms and apartments are split into three zones that fan out from the central glass courtyard. As we arrived at night, the space was beautifully lit up and a pianist was playing a grand piano in the courtyard which was magical.

Communal Areas

The main meeting point in the hotel is the glass patio. Your eye is immediately drawn to the chequered black and white floor and large oversized plant pots. Rooms come off this space and across from the check-in is the hotel’s Signature restaurant, which includes ornaments and artefacts from the time when the space with the Soviet embassy.

The Apartment

We had a “luxury suite’ which H15 has a few of, which are generous in size at 60 – 69m2. Ours included two bathrooms a bedroom and a large lounge/kitchen.

The Bedroom

The bedroom was extremely cosy – much to do with the interior design by Mariola Tomczak and furniture by Meridiani and Pianka, the space is modern but indulgently warm. Off from the bedroom is the en-suite with floor-to-ceiling marble. Bathroom amenities are by L’Occitane and there are an array of warm and fluffy towels. The door is interesting because it is glass slide shut, but there is a curtain to slide across for any modesty you might require.

The Lounge

The lounge is gigantic with a corner sofa that is more than enough for two people to lie out fully watching the TV comfortably (the sofa does turn into another bed if additional people are staying over). A writing desk is to the left of the sofa and across from that is the kitchenette and dining table. Individual pieces of artwork by Polish photographer and fine artist Rita Zimmerman offer a personal touch to the space.

The kitchenette is packed full of goodies including a Nespresso!! Drinks in the fridge are clearly labeled with pricing and there is an array of kitchen goods if you are planning on staying for a few days in the city.

The lounge has a second bathroom finished head to two in white and black featured marble. The bedroom includes an oversized bath, which I tried out.

Food and Drink

We didn’t have time to eat dinner in the restaurant, however we did have breakfast the next morning. Cold foods are buffet style and unlimited hot food can be ordered with your waiter and cooked to order. I would highly recommend the waffles and chocolate, what a great way to start the morning!

Finances and Final Thoughts

From the moment I walked in I loved H15! It feels less like a hotel and more like your own private residence. Service is relaxed but still formal. It lacks a spa but makes up for it in its suite-style living options.
