A Masterpiece in a Glass: The Loft at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok’s #ArtistsatTheLoft, Vol. 2

In the heart of Bangkok, where mixology meets artistry, The Loft at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok has taken the cocktail experience to a whole new level with the unveiling of #ArtistsatTheLoft, Vol. 2. This second edition of their art-inspired cocktail menu is a testament to the belief that cocktails are not just beverages; they are masterpieces crafted by true artists. Discover more about our recent visit here with Tourism Thailand.

Building upon the success of their initial art-inspired cocktail menu, The Loft has collaborated again with a group of professors, artists and students from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. Together, they have created 13 brand-new cocktails, each meticulously crafted based on artistic techniques. These cocktails are not just drinks; they are artworks that explore the intricate interplay between artistic expression and the craft of mixology.

One of the standout cocktails from this new menu is “The Magnolias,” a rum-based concoction infused with homemade goji berry pisco, yuvi, guava, lime, and walnut & sesame syrup. This cocktail beautifully captures the essence of The Loft’s location, perched atop Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard, using acrylic art techniques. It’s not just a drink; it’s a work of art.

“Cha Thai” is another masterpiece that celebrates the essence of Thailand. This rum-based cocktail blends domestic rum with Thai tea-infused vermouth, kaffir lime and tamarind syrup, lime juice, and jasmine rice foam. The associated artwork uses a spray art technique, adding an artistic dimension to the drinking experience.

“Just Drop It” is a whisky-based cocktail that combines saffron-infused Lillet Blanc, aloe vera juice, citrus, lotus & tamarind syrup, and Perrier. The captivating oil-dropping art technique is employed to bring this exceptional concoction to life, inviting cocktail lovers to discover their creative spirit with every sip.

“Level 56,” a gin-based cocktail, pays homage to The Loft’s talented mixologists, who are true artists in their own right. Coconut milk punch, lychee & rose syrup, and blood orange & elderflower tonic come together to create a drink that is not only delicious but also visually striking, thanks to the mixologists’ drawing technique on the glass.

And then there’s “Midnight Mosaic,” a spirit-based cocktail crafted from bourbon, coffee, orange liqueur, vermouth, roasted barley syrup, and Perrier. It’s a mosaic of flavours that seamlessly blended together, inspired by the collage art technique.

The Loft, located on level 56 of Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, is a visual delight in itself. With a design history that transports you from the Art Nouveau to the Art Deco periods, it is an elegant and glamorous bohemian escape. The central lounge space, surrounding a grand horseshoe-shaped bar, offers sweeping views of the cityscape. The smoking lounge, custom silk Art Nouveau-inspired patterns, and the grand staircase connecting The Loft with Bull & Bear and The Champagne Bar complete the experience.
