Heritage Awali Golf And Spa Resort, Mauritius

Set in the UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere transition zone, the five-star all-inclusive Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort occupies an enviable spot within a nature reserve, on a white sandy beach facing a preserved lagoon. Formed around a 19th-century plantation-style house, it blends heritage with chic and fashionable hospitality. Featuring a world-class destination golf course, an African village-style spa, a seemingly endless array of food and leisure options and stellar facilities for families, Heritage Awali is also a carbon-neutral eco-resort.

Accommodation Inspired by African Heritage

All the 163 bedrooms have a balcony or terrace and have been recently refurbished. 23 are interconnecting, catering to families and there are five categories of rooms, including Senior Suites and villas which come with Jacuzzis and ihome.

The top-end space is the 1310m² Heritage Villa Beachfront, with two master bedrooms, one kids room, a private pool and gazebo, as well as optional butler service. Dark teak furnishings, cream linens, tiled floors and ceiling fans throughout the property, evoke the plantation feel.

Two Golf Courses

The 18-hole championship golf course Le Château Golf Course is the jewel in Heritage Awali’s crown and no doubt the reason it was voted World Top 100 luxury golf and beach resort by Today’s Golfer. Stay here and you’ll enjoy complimentary green fees, as well as access to the only 9-hole with Par-3s and footgolf course in Mauritius. Both were designed by internationally renowned golf course architect and ex-European Tour player, Peter Matkovich. And in autumn 2023, the resort added La Réserve Golf Links, available only to Heritage Resorts’ guests and Heritage Golf Club members. This is the first and only private links-style course to exist in the Indian Ocean and was co-designed by Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen. Additional amenities include a clubhouse with a shop, kids’ coaching programmes and PGA Pro Certified staff.

Seven Colours Spa

The spa facilities are housed in thatched huts, creating the feel of a little African village, nestled among the tropical flora and fauna. Its 3000 m2 accommodates a mix of indoor and outdoor treatment rooms beside the beach and in the gardens. Some have Vichy showers and steam rooms, others are designed for couples and others again for families and kids. There’s also a vitality and a chill-out pool, two hammams, one sauna and two relaxation areas, A salon, parlour and bridal room cater to guests’ hair and beauty needs.

Baby Timomo, Timomo Kids and Umuzi Teens Club

The super family-friendly resort has endless opportunities for its younger guests. There are clubs for those 0 to 35 months old (staffed by nurses trained in first aid and childcare), three to 12 years old and another for teens from 12 to 17 years old. The programmes include engaging options like the discovery of local musical instruments, stargazing, outdoor cinema, tennis and beach volley tournaments and Sega parties around a bonfire.
