Pulsating With Energy
The much-anticipated launch of the innovative hotel concept took place in July 2022, with a grand opening that encapsulated the zest and energetic personality of the venue. Now fully open, guests can come to stay, dine, drink and dance in the inimitable FIVE style. Right in the heart of Zurich and set up to be THE place to party, it caters to music lovers with live events including international headline DJs; not only has the hotel group been curating its own playlists (which you can listen to on Spotify), but it has also launched its very own music label.
An incredible 14-metre colourful 18-alphorn sculpture greets guests inside, through to the outside of the lobby, giving a taste of what’s to come as they move through the spaces. In collaboration with local Swiss artists, the interior designers have arranged special nooks within the spaces, created to be ultra Instagramable. This is a place to both see and be seen.
Introducing the FIVE brand
Anticipating what’s to come, we take a look at what’s happened so far with the growing chain… FIVE (which coincidentally this year celebrated its fifth birthday) already has two super funky properties in Dubai – The Penthouse and The Beach by FIVE at FIVE Palm Jumeirah – which have garnered a stellar reputation for world-class music events. Their guests have enjoyed sets from sought-after artists like Joel Corry, Robin Shulz, Solardo, Jax Jones, Lost Frequencies and many more top names. Now the signature events attended by revellers in the UAE will be replicated with a European focus, here in Zurich.
Minutes From Central Zurich
Around a 20-minute drive from the airport (via the hotel’s pre-bookable transfer service), FIVE Zurich is found in the leafy Wiedikon district surrounded by green space that leads onto the edge of the urban sprawl. The famous Utliberg Mountain sits in view of the hotel, inviting guests to hikes, as well as providing an enviable backdrop for glamorous rooftop parties and epic sundowners. The site was previously occupied by Atlantis By Giardino, and, during its former life, the venue hosted megastars like Muhammad Ali, Elton John and Grace Jones. While the building peers over the city centre on a very private patch, guests can be whisked to Zurich’s museums, restaurants and the lake, in a matter of minutes. But with so much happening on site and such indulgent amenities, you may find it a struggle to venture too far.
Gorgeous and Generous rooms, Luxe Suites and Party Pads to Impress
The property underwent a nine-month renovation period, during which it became a canvas for local creative talent. You can book a stay in a Gorgeous or a Generous Room (the latter with a balcony option). These are classed as bedrooms, but in reality, are far more like suites.
Up a grade you can opt for the classy Luxe or Luxe XL Suites, the fun FIVE suite, the 78 sqm bold, retro-esque Come Play Suite that’s fit for a rockstar, a two-bedroom Epic Suite with eight balconies, or an interconnecting suite with anything up to four bedrooms. All categories feature exclusive art pieces, king-size beds, living areas and posh toiletries. Holding particular appeal for Millennial and Zillenial visitors, these spaces have been imagined with the modern generations in mind.
Asian fusion dining with Swiss classics
Seven different eateries are provided within the property. The first is the high-energy street food haunt, Soul Street, with a buzzing atmosphere; Maiden Shanghai, a MSG-free gourmet Chinese restaurant with an epic award-winning brunch; The Penthouse, a unique Japanese lounge concept – fusing dancing and dining – that’s connected to the nightclub with an alfresco terrace and panoramic vistas of the skyline; The Vault Wine Bar, cooking up a divine contemporary take on the classic Swiss fondue; the Tune In cafe with murals, coffee and take out snacks; and finally, The Social Pool, for cocktails and light bites bathed in sunshine.
During our stay, we experienced a variety of the hotel’s delicious food offerings.
The Retreat, Spa and Pool
The outdoor Social Pool is certainly set to heat up your summer; this area of the hotel hosts several daytime events featuring live entertainment and come the warmer months, giving you the chance to slip into your swimwear, sip on artisanal beverages and dip in the water accompanied by some cool beats.
But if all this high-octane partying gets a little much, rest assured you can also detox and decompress at the spa. This urban wellness centre is spread over 560 sqm, comprising five treatment rooms, a Spa Suite with a jacuzzi, a steam bath, a sauna area, a relaxation room, and an interior and an exterior swimming pool – both with integrated jacuzzis. And you always be able to look your best, with a team of therapists on hand to get your selfie-ready ahead of your night out. If you want to stay active, you can access the state-of-the-art gym, containing TechnoGym equipment, wall-mounted TVs, weights and jump ropes.
Party at The Penthouse Zurich
We’ve mentioned The Penthouse as a place to eat and dance, but this gem of a venue deserves more detailed coverage. Here you can expect to encounter world-renowned artists like Joel Corry, Pete Tong, Acraze, and Charlie Sloth by night, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Lost
Frequencies, Robin Schulz, MORTEN, and Topic by day; it’s the Zurich home of the sound of FIVE. The decor inside is opulent, while the views from the terrace will take your breath away – especially at sunset. And be sure to check out the bathrooms, we won’t spoil the surprise, but they are unlike any others. In fact, The Penthouse is unlike any other nightclub.
This innovative property is a prime location for star spotting (both celebs and celestial beings). Be among the first to immerse FIVE’s first European outing – we’re sure there’ll be more – by booking a break at this innovative new address in Zurich. In receipt of the exclusive 5-Star Superior Hotel award by HotellerieSuisse, you can be sure of the VIP treatment while in Zurich.
