Miami is truly a world city, and a vibrant nexus of the Americas.  HYDE Hotel and Residences Midtown Miami is the on-trend destination in the heart of one of the city’s most happening areas, a residential and leisure area, pulsating with life, art, culture, great shopping and superb dining.

To stay at Hyde is to be in the epicentre of one of Miami’s most hip and happening neighbourhoods. I visited Miami for the first time probably 25 years ago and the pull was of course the revitalised South Beach neighbourhood with is iconic art deco architecture and Miami beach culture. Yet over the decades, the wave of creativity energy and economic renaissance has hit city centre districts. Now the coolest places to be in Midtown (which embraces Wynwood and the Design District) and the urban business and leisure area of Brickell.

Over the years and many visits, it has been an inspiration to discover the districts of Miami, being immersed in a huge diversity of art, music, and food from across the Americas.

Midtown is an authentic residential and leisure area – staying here means you are living like a local, surrounded by some the cities best retail and restaurants.

HYDE Hotel and Residences Midtown Miami is an urban hotel created for those that truly want to enjoy the best of Miami’s urban food, entertainment, and arts scene. The property has spacious studios and suites with city views, balconies terraces and access to indoor and outdoor amenity spaces and facilities for relaxation, fitness, and entertainment.

The entrance and lobby set the scene for on-trend stay in Miami. Manolis Projects, said to be South Florida’s largest fine arts gallery, has partnered with Hyde Midtown Miami, creating a contemporary art exhibit featuring works by renowned pop artists and street-art pioneers from around the world.

A graffiti-covered piano, a gold-leafed shark, 1960s pin-up girl and an Elvis-inspired mug shot are among the many striking works on view in the hotel lobby lounge of Hyde Midtown. Enjoy bold collage paintings by New York City artist Jojo Anavim, sculpture by Brazilian artist Hamilton Aguiar, mixed media paintings by Steven Manolis — founder and gallery owner of Manolis Projects — and a pop art-inspired piece by Mr. Brainwash, the mysterious contemporary artist made famous by Banksy’s award-winning documentary, “Exit Through the Gift Shop.”

Space and light – that the first thing that you will notice when you step into your studio or suite. A stay here is all about the Miami urban lifestyle, and the studios and suites feel like you very own city bolthole, as they are also come equipped with a kitchenette with fridge, microwave and Allessi chinaware. There’s a full minibar curated with our signature items and premium spirits, perfect preparing a cocktail, heading to the private terrace, and enjoying the buzz of the city below.

There are 6 categories of studios and suites at Hyde Midtown Miami with contemporary interiors by David Rockwell, a kitchenette and outside, striking Miami city views. We stayed in a Hyde Corner Suite, with a fabulous wrap-around balcony terrace, a large living area with seating, a desk, a stylish kitchenette and all the amenities one could ask for to enjoy a comfortable stay in the city.

The corner bedroom with twin floor-to-ceiling windows brought the city in, and the dressing area provided plenty of space to store belongings.

Yet you won’t want to lose too much time kicking back and relaxing in the suite, as there’s a lot to enjoy on the property and nearby.

Wellness

Miami feels like a city filled with beautiful people – beach bodies are everywhere, so stay in shape during your stay with access to the well-equipped Fitness Centre HYDE Hotel and Residences Midtown as well as booking the rooftop tennis court with incredible views! There’s even a putting green. The front desk can also arrange nearby activities including paddleboard & clear kayak rentals with local business Clear View Kayaks.

Yet if your idea of enjoying the Caribbean-style weather is more poolside than gym, then the rooftop pool with sun loungers and shaded cabanas are surrounded by palms and gardens – an oasis in Midtown.

Dining

HYDE Hotel and Residences Midtown is the heart of a vibrant community, with lots of independent restaurants and bars. I arrived late from the airport and yet was able to find a table at the bar of Salumeria 104, a super Italian restaurant just by the hotel. The food was deliciously authentic and this being Miami it’s easy to strike up a conversation with the other guests at the bar. If you find a place nearby you want to visit, where it’s a boutique or restaurant the hotel will be happy to arrange for the house vehicle to take you there, travelling in style in a luxury Lincoln house car.

Salvaje Miami

On the rooftop of Hyde is one of the city’s most emblematic restaurants, Salvaje. This new concept of signature Japanese fusion cuisine with striking design and vibrant entertainment, created by Fermín, Chef-Owner, is taking the world by storm. The vibe is the perfect fit for Miami and this exciting restaurant is the perfect complement to the dining and entertainment scene of Midtown.

Salvaje Miami captures the essence of dining in this lively city. A tropical roof top garden embraces you as you arrive. The bar is at the centre, a spectacle to enjoy cocktails and sushi plates being prepared. The tables are illuminated by sparkling fairy lights above and set with flickering candles. Start your evening with a signature cocktail like a Vikingo, served in a horn! Stolichnaya Vodka and Fords gin is mixed with passion fruit, fresh ginger, lime juice & soda peach. Then start a memorable meal with sharing plates like Cauliflower Boom – a theatrically presented dish of baked cauliflower with smoked cauliflower coulis, yellow ají sauce and feta-tofu sauce. You must try the Wagyu Beef Fried Rice – a generous dish that has it all, with sautéed wok rice, sliced wagyu, ikura and low-temperature cooked egg.

Executive Chef Fermín has taken inspiration from his Latin origins, and with knowledge of cuisines across the world, developed a unique approach to dining.  As we tuck into the flavoursome dishes, the DJ beats are suddenly accompanied by the waiting staff dancing! It’s an entertaining and unforgettable night dining and laughing under the stars!

Destination Miami Midtown

Midtown is the perfect base to enjoy the buzzing artsy districts of modern Miami, including the Design District, and Wynwood which has evolved into a centre for art with both established and pop-up galleries; and is renowned for its Wynwood Walls street art park. The post-industrial city block on NW 2nd Avenue between 25th and 26th Streets is an ever-changing canvas for graffiti artists – with many new works emerging to coincide with the Art Basel Miami festival in December.

The dining scene is eclectic from relaxed neighbourhood coffee shops and bakeries to upscale Michelin star destination dining. The friendly folk on front desk at Hyde will point you in the right direction with advice on where to get the best Cuban sandwich to where to enjoy the finest organic vegetarian cuisine – it’s all here.
