Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun – Seduce Your Senses, And Pamper Mind & Body, At This Beachfront Oasis

Cancún, on Mexico’s Caribbean Coast, is a perennial favourite for visitors looking for balmy tropical weather, quintessential Caribbean beaches and luxury hotels including the renowned Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancún, writes Andrew Forbes.

Following a complete renovation, Live Aqua Cancún has embraced 2019 with an exciting new guest proposition built on years of expertise in the upscale Cancún hospitality sector.

Live Aqua is all about enlivening the senses and pampering the body & mind.

So, during our recent trip to Mexico and the Yucatan peninsula, the opportunity to visit was one we just couldn’t miss!

We were whisked from the airport to the property in one of Live Aqua’s luxury SUVs. It’s a 20- to 30-minute transfer in luxurious comfort. If you’re celebrating a special occasion maybe you want to consider one of the hotel’s white Rolls Royce motor cars – Aqua 1 or Aqua 2.

Aqua Club – setting the tone

As privileged guests of the hotel’s new Aqua Club (a premium guest club on the 5th floor where one can enjoy a daily private club breakfast, as well as hors d’œuvres, canapés and refreshments throughout the day, including premium drinks, and afternoon tea) our arrival set the tone for our short stay at this ‘sensorial lifestyle resort’.

After being warmly greeted upon arrival we enjoyed a welcome drink, whilst relaxing on the sofa in the private club lounge overlooking the Caribbean whilst a therapist offered a complimentary hand massage! It’s the first of many ways the property indulges and seduces your senses.

As Aqua Club guests also expect to enjoy one of the poolside cabana daybeds – and even a 20-minute foot massage each day!

The club lounge is an elegant space and was our go-to place for personal concierge and also our private check-out when we left.

The Hotel

Live Aqua is an established beach resort in Cancún and since its complete remodelling it has emerged as an upscale all-inclusive beach resort with new guest suites and new restaurants.

This adults-only poperty has beautiful established gardens and seven spectacular pools (social, quite, bar etc) and each at different temperatures – and the infinite pool swim-up bar is one of the best I’ve seen.

The property is stylish and sophisticated, with sculptures, art, and water features. Yet it’s also very much about fun – creating different ways for all guests to really make the most of their valuable vacation time. For example, it’s so cool to have a night-club onsite; and there are also entertaining events and parties to join – I loved the silent disco with 3 talented DJs; such a great atmosphere.

Live Aqua now has 371 suites and premium rooms, that are designed around a genuine sensorial experience, encompassing each aspect from the lighting, to the room scent.

Executive chef César Germain has created new signature menus across the property’s restaurants. I just loved the different styles and characters of the different places to eat!

The Style

With almost 30 kilometres of beaches, Cancún’s Hotel Zone is typically the first choice for visitors looking for upscale boutiques, restaurants and a lively nightlife. With over 30,000 guest rooms available in Cancún, the choice of hotels and resorts is dazzling.

Yet Live Aqua stands out as a luxury all-inclusive that enriches client’s vacations with a sophisticated approach to wellness. Not only the sensorial elements of the guest rooms and the hotel design, but also though the award-winning Spa Aqua.

The overall style is about barefoot Caribbean resort chic – great places to eat, beautiful guest rooms, a stylish spa – and a fun atmosphere. Live Aqua wants to make sure that each sensory element of the vacation is a delight.

The Location

Live Aqua has a privileged location on the beach of Cancún’s Hotel Zone. It is close to La Isla Shopping Village, with impressive retail, entertainment and restaurants. What’s more the prestigious Luxury Avenue mall is also close by, the place for world-class brands.

The Suite

The guest rooms are notable for the level of thought that has gone into the design and preparation.

When I entered the room, I was so surprised to see a spectacular, personalised welcome – my name on the king-size bed (in coloured rice) – so clever, so creative. I loved it!

However, it’s the new soothing aromatherapy dream menu that’s really the innovative way to truly personalise the space.

So too is the controlled surround sound music, and the smart bedside-controlled lighting. Wi-Fi was excellent.

Expect a Nespresso coffee machine and stocked minibar.

Thoughtful and creative touches include incense; a miniature Japanese rock zen garden, which you can meditatively care for; and a meditation chime.

There is 24/7 rooms service too.

The bathroom is superbly presented and has generous Molton Brown amenities, and extras like toothpaste and mouthwash, as well as handmade soap. And there is always the Live Aqua sense of humour too, here shown with the complimentary take-home rubber duck!

In the wardrobe there’s slippers, beach flipflops and a beach bag – all the details have been thought of.

When you press the switch in the morning and the curtains automatically draw open, then you are greeted by that spectacular view – the most seductive element of all!

The Dining

Since Live Aqua has become an all-inclusive resort it has created a new range of restaurants that offer cuisine and ambiance to suite different moments and moods – each of course designed to appeal to all your senses. There’s the informal Café and Deli; a great sushi bar; pool bars and of course signature restaurants including:

Azul, a semi-open Mayan palapa with both indoor and outdoor seating – wonderful tropical feeling.

Siete, with its distinctive mosaic columns, and new outdoor sitting area.

MB has a new wine cellar; and has earned a Wine Spectator award for its wine selection

The AKA bar is the place for signature and classic cocktails prepared by the Live Aqua mixologists.

Sea Corner Restaurant makes the most of the hotel’s exceptional setting, with beach and sea views that make the seafood taste even better.

Found amongst the mature trees of the hotel’s glorious garden is The Hidden Garden restaurant, a particularly romantic place to dine.

We were impressed by the new Inlaa’Kech Restaurant – a premium restaurant that showcases the talent of Executive chef César Germain and his team, as well as the sommeliers.

You can read my review of the Inlaa’Kech Restaurant at Live Aqua Cancun here.

Spa Aqua has some wonderfully designed and presented spaces, both inside and seaside, as well as treatment rooms for individuals and couples. I was particularly impressed with how the therapists presented the wide menu of signature treatments – and how one can choose different essential oils for treatments;  lifting the glass domes to breath in the scents is so compelling and a great way to choose a product scent. Spa products are by Pevonia and Phytomer.

The Unique Experience

Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun really impressed me. This is a property that endeavours to embrace each of its clients by seducing their senses – the glorious Mexican Caribbean light; the sea views; the sounds of the ocean; the personalised aromatherapy in the guest room; the varied cuisines; the pampering in the spa; the pleasure of the beach and pools; the fun and joy of holidaying with friends and family; dancing in the nightclub; indulging in a cocktail at the swim-up bar; eating a gourmet meal. This is a resort that immerses you in a feel-good vibe.
