METT Hotel & Beach Resort Bodrum – Signature Dining Experiences – Bay View Villas & Suites

METT is described as an ‘exclusive collection of refined, and elegant boutique hotels located in some of the world’s most unique locations, with socialising and lifestyle entertainment` at the heart of the guest experience. Well, following our stay at METT Hotel & Beach Resort Bodrum, it’s fair to say that this property truly lives up to the brand positioning! This on-trend, beautifully located property right on a cove, close to the Aegean city of Bodrum, offers elegant, contemporary, light-filled rooms with a compelling Mediterranean design, relaxed, on-point service, delivered with style by a young and motivated team, together with standout our dining experiences of gastronomy with live entertainment.

Bodrum has undergone a renaissance. It has regained its sought-after destination status – and has attracted some of the world’s finest hotel brands. Little wonder when you consider the amazing climate, which means the summery weather extends well into the autumn, the beauty of the coastline, and the wonder of the legendary Aegean Sea. I’ve been travelling to this part of the world for many years, almost like a pilgrim, as I adore joining ScicSailing cruises. This time we had an exclusive charter of a gulet with friends, and at the end of the trip, I knew I wanted to stay in Bodrum and discover what METT is all about.

Location

Bodrum, despite its exponential growth as a yachting and resort destination over the past decades, has retained much of its authentic identity. There is no high-rise development, so the contours of the pine-clad hills that surround the bays remain. METT is positioned right on one of these idyllic bays, with views out to Greek islands. From  Isola, the resort’s chic Italian restaurant, the views are right over Bodrum harbour, to the castle. It really doesn’t get better than that!

The resort is built on a hillside that runs down to a private beach, so from each level of the hotel, you get commanding views.

The journey starts upon arrival. The double-height reception is flooded with light from a panoramic window that frames the sea view – it’s the kind of high-impact arrival that makes memories. The team are young, impeccably presented, yet confident in their relaxed, youthful style. A welcome cocktail makes check-in, seated on a sofa by the picture window, a delight.

Guest Rooms & Suites

We’re then taken to our room, a Deluxe Partial Sea View. The resort has high occupancy, and the choices are limited but even this category of room truly impresses! Clever use of space, with an open plan feel, makes the room feel very spacious. The style of décor, with cotton, linen and natural materials, gives a contemporary Mediterranean feel.

Additional room categories include studios, family rooms,  loft suites – and even villas, from 1 bedroom up to 5 bedrooms, with pools and exceptional views.

The welcome is seriously elevated with a beautiful amenity. This isn’t a generic bottle of wine, but a beautifully crafted platter of goodies. Guest amenities in the room are generous with a bag for grooming products, and beautiful toiletries by Korres, a favourite of mine.

Dining

The culinary experiences at METT are certainly where the resort shows its unique identity. Away from the tranquillity of the MOI spa and the rejuvenation of the Turkish hammam, guests can find tempting sustenance and captivating entertainment with a unique ambience at Folie and Isola.

Folie

We enjoyed lunch at Folie, and what a lunch! This exclusive beach club is the quintessential Mediterranean restaurant. Set on a platform over the water, with the summer sunlight filtered through the wooden pergola. The location is stunning and even if you are not a hotel guest this is where you can make a day of it enjoying cocktails, a long lunch and lively entertainment. Be warned the volume is cranked up rapidly and the restaurant and beach club is transformed into an open stage for singers, musicians, and cabaret acts.

There’s a tender service too if you arrive on your own yacht charter. The tunes and fun last well into the early evening – this is the social and entertainment hub of the resort.

Isola

Set slightly adjacent to the main property, Isola overlooks Bodrum harbour and the medieval castle. This is where we had dinner. The alfresco terrace is the place to be – starting with cocktails at the long bar, with DJ sets creating a cool vibe. The cuisine is Italian and the setting is gloriously Mediterranean with illuminated olive trees, a balmy breeze and a glorious sea view.

Additional dining options also include the Gulet, a chic sea view terrace restaurant for lunch alfresco, and Angel, a summer pop-up restaurant brings the authentic flavours and aromas of Turkish cuisine

Final Thoughts

METT has certainly won me over. I loved the youthful vibe, the celebration of the Mediterranean lifestyle and the balance of attentive service with a natural, relaxed approach. Watch this space – a new METT is opening in Marbella! It’s clear that this hotel group will go from strength to strength.
