Brown’s Hotel, London, Launches New Suites Inspired by Mayfair’s Musical Past

Known for its rich history and exceptional service, Brown’s Hotel, part of Rocco Forte Hotels, continues to innovate bringing historic inspiration and stylish design together in the form of its three new Forte Suites, the Clementi, Clara Dow and Nightingale. The creative vision for these new suites is a celebration of the hotel’s unique local musical connection and draws on the experience and flair of Paolo Moschino Ltd, Olga Polizzi, Rocco Forte Hotels’ Director of Design, and English architect Sir John Soane.

The Clementi Suite

Muzio Clementi, was a Roman-born composer who made Mayfair his home and this serene suite pays homage to his Mayfair presence. Features include draped fabrics, a palette anchored by Farrow & Ball’s Calke Green and a concealed door showcases Soane’s architectural playfulness. Antique accents and bold contemporary artworks strike a thoughtful balance between past and present.

The Clara Dow Suite

This is an elegant tribute to English soprano and star of Gilbert & Sullivan’s operas, Clara Dow. The suite showcases handcrafted San Patrignano wallpaper, decorative cornices and period-inspired details to create a theatrical setting. This spacious suite reflects both her artistry and the creative spirit of Edwardian Mayfair.

The Nightingale Suite

Designed in tribute to the 1939 song A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, a wartime ballad sung Dame Vera Lynn who was also once a guest of Brown’s Hotel. This intimate space uses soft lighting, handwoven rugs, and sculptural sconces to create a nostalgic and elegant mood. The Emperador marble bathroom with its unusual porthole window is a haven of tranquillity above the rooftops of Mayfair.

Olga Polizzi, Director of Design at Rocco Forte Hotels says: “We have created spaces that feel deeply connected – to the building, to Mayfair, and to the people who have shaped it over the years. This project is among the most personal and meaningful we’ve undertaken at Brown’s Hotel.”

The new Forte Suites are available from £3,500 per night and form the first phase of an ambitious design refresh at London’s oldest luxury hotel. Over the coming months, further spaces will be redesigned to reflect the same sensibility of heritage, interpreted with a modern eye.
