Up in the lush Elviria Hills, El Lago restaurante Marbella sits above a lake with the golf course and gardens beyond. A culinary destination since 2000, it has reemerged under owner Elena Fernández, with Chef Milos Zdravkovic leading the kitchen, with a new style and menus, and prestigious recognition in the Macarfi, Repsol and Michelin guides.
In summer, the setting takes on a new dimension, with the dinner under the stars on the exquisite terrace, and throughout the season, the restaurant marks the calendar with signature events, from wine dinners to private celebrations and weddings by the lake.
Summer Dining
To mark the opening of the terrace this summer, El Lago hosted a Kaitai, the Japanese ceremony in which a whole bluefin tuna is carved by hand, performed by experts. From now until the autumn, dinner will be served with expansive views of rolling greens, centenary oaks, and a beautiful fountain that is illuminated at night.
The kaitai dinner showed the creativity and diversity of the kitchen. A trio of tuna tartare opened the meal, akami, chutoro and otoro, the cuts moving from lean to richly marbled. Then a tiradito with aguachile, avocado and aromatics; yakitori of the same three cuts, on little wood skewers and cooked over embers; and a tataki with capers, tomato, basil, and sautéed vegetables.
A lemon sorbet with fresh fruit and basil closed it, clean and cooling, theatrically served in a whole, opened frozen lemon, with champagne poured over.
A mellow DJ played, as the candelabra on each table burned down slowly, and the stars emerged.
The summer terrace is smarter than ever, tables dressed in crisp linen, shaded under parasols, while inside, the dining room has been renovated with an elegant, chic, minimalist style, with warm cream walls, a touch of gold and clean, uncluttered tables.

Private Events
The kaitai is one of a series of signature seasonal dinners at El Lago, wine dinners among them, and the restaurant also hosts private events and weddings on the terrace and by the lake.
The setting is spectacular for all kinds of celebrations, from birthdays, baby showers, company lunches, and incentives to product launches.
