Fire Mountains, Underwater Museums, Football Academies and More…2020 activities at Princesa Yaiza, Lanzarote

Travellers looking for year-round sunshine and endless activities need look no further than five-star Princesa Yaiza, Lanzarote. The resort offers more than 300 days of sunshine each year and activities to suit all ages, including day trips to the Fire Mountains of Timanfaya National Park and Volcanic caves of Corona, diving in Europe’s only underwater museum, kid’s football schools with UEFA coaches, golf, hiking, cycling and more.

Located in the volcanic island of Lanzarote and on one of the island’s most beautiful stretches of golden sand beach, Princesa Yaiza is a playground for all ages.

Princesa Yaiza offers two diving packages for guests looking to explore the critically acclaimed Museo Atlantico underwater museum: a beginners’ PADI open-water diving course and Six-Dive Package for experienced Divers.

The soul-stirring museum, accessible only to snorkelers and scuba divers, is the brainchild of sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor. There are more than 300 life-sized human sculptures on display, including the emotive Raft of Lampedusa which depicts the migrant crisis. The sculptures are frequented by rare angel sharks, schools of barracudas and sardines, octopus and the occasional butterfly ray.

The Fire Mountains – Montañas del Fuego – are a short 15-minute drive away from Princesa Yaiza and offer guests the chance to experience first-hand the island’s ferocious volcanic past. Although volcanically dormant, temperatures of up to 610°C have been recorded at a depth of 13 metres, and up to 277°C at just 10cm. Guests can watch steam soar from the ground as cold water is poured into shallow pits and witness chicken cooked purely from the heat of the mountain.

Guests who can’t get enough of their volcano fix can also visit the Cueva de los Verdes, a mythological-looking cave from the eruption of the Volcan de la Corona. Formerly a hideout used by locals who needed shelter from attacking pirates, the cave is now available for all to visit.

As part of Princesa Yaiza’s sensational 10,000sqm Kikoland Kids Club, UEFA qualified coaches Gary Sperry of Leicester City and Rangers star Scott Nisbet will be leading a soccer school with coaching, skills training and games. The two-hour sessions run from 10am – 12pm for children aged 5 to 16 years old.

Kikoland will also be running a range of new and old kids’ activities this summer including mini disco, water fights, fantasy face painting, sandcastle contests, musicals, basketball, tennis initiation, baseball, kayaking and much more. Kikoland is a children’s park adventure paradise with age appropriate childcare and activities for kids aged 0 – 18.

Princesa Yaiza can also book multiple activities for adults and kids including surfing, golf, guided trekking, kayaking, cycling and more.
