Taj Brings Signature Indian Hospitality to Frankfurt’s Hessischer Hof

One of Frankfurt’s most iconic hotels has entered a new chapter with its reopening as Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, marking the first Taj-branded hotel in continental Europe.

Located opposite Messe Frankfurt and the Festhalle concert venue, the historic property has been extensively restored and reimagined by Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), bringing together the grandeur of a traditional European grand hotel with the renowned hospitality for which the Taj brand is known.

Originally established as the Hessischer Hof, the hotel has long been considered one of Frankfurt’s most distinguished addresses. Following a period of closure after the pandemic, the landmark property has now reopened under Taj Hotels, preserving much of its heritage while introducing contemporary luxury experiences and signature Taj touches.

The hotel features 126 guestrooms and suites, many designed to reflect the property’s aristocratic roots through elegant furnishings, rich textures and timeless interiors. Originally owned by the House of Hesse and long regarded as one of Frankfurt’s most prestigious landmark hotels, the hotel retains original design details and historic character while introducing the contemporary comforts expected of a modern luxury stay.

Dining plays a central role in the guest experience, with several venues available within the hotel. Among them is Bombay Brasserie, bringing contemporary Indian cuisine to Frankfurt, alongside the Lobby Lounge & Bar and the return of Jimmy’s Bar, one of the city’s most legendary drinking establishments and a long-time favourite among locals, business travellers and international visitors alike.

Guests will also have access to Taj’s acclaimed wellness offering through the J Wellness Circle spa, which includes treatment rooms, relaxation spaces, saunas and steam facilities designed to provide a restorative retreat from the pace of the city. A fitness centre and dedicated wellness facilities further enhance the hotel’s luxury credentials.

Another notable addition is The Chambers, Taj’s exclusive members-only concept, offering private lounges, meeting spaces and personalised services for frequent travellers and business guests seeking a more elevated experience. Its arrival feels particularly fitting in Frankfurt, a city long established as one of Europe’s leading financial and business centres, where demand for discreet, high-end spaces for work, networking and relaxation remains strong.

The opening represents a significant milestone for IHCL and its international expansion strategy. Taj Hotels operates several renowned properties globally, including Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences in London, but Frankfurt becomes the brand’s first venture into mainland Europe. The move reflects growing demand for luxury hospitality experiences that combine distinctive local heritage with an increasingly international outlook.

Frankfurt may be best known as Germany’s financial powerhouse, yet the city continues to evolve as a leisure destination, with a growing collection of luxury hotels, cultural attractions and world-class dining. The arrival of Taj Hessischer Hof adds another noteworthy address to the city’s luxury hospitality scene, while restoring a much-loved landmark to its former prominence.

With its blend of European elegance, Indian hospitality and a storied history, Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt aims to offer guests a distinctive new way to experience one of Germany’s most dynamic cities.
